Bob Cadger was due to fly home on Tuesday but failed to board his flight after attending a Napoli vs Fiorentina football match with friends and travelling to Pompeii
Italian police, alongside frantic relatives, are scouring Naples for a British tourist who has disappeared. Robert John Cadger, known to friends as Bob, embarked on what was supposed to be a leisurely four-day trip to savour Italy’s football scene beginning Saturday, March 8, but has since vanished.
The 47-year-old Aberdeen supporter was last seen enjoying the Napoli vs. Fiorentina game with some mates on Monday, March 10, before heading solo to the historic site at Pompeii. His return to Scotland was booked for the next day, yet there’s been no trace of Sterling native Bob since he missed his flight home.
The concern has deepened as it emerged that Robert vanished, leaving his bank card behind, and has made no known contact. His phone has been inactive since Tuesday.
In a plea, Robert’s brother stated Euan: “Bob went on holiday to Italy and was due home on Tuesday. He has not returned home and nobody has heard from him since Monday. We are obviously very worried.”
Speaking to the Daily Record, Euan revealed: “On the first day, he lost his suitcase and had just 600 euros. He has left his bank card at his accommodation and his phone has been off since Tuesday.
“There has also been no movement on his account. If anyone has any sightings of Bob please contact the police or my family on 7718 484719.”
Robert is distinguishable by his 5ft 9in stature, shaved head, and distinctive barcode tattoo on the back of his neck. At the time he vanished, he was wearing a standout yellow Aberdeen Football Club tracksuit top.
A representative from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office stated: “We are supporting the family of a British man missing in Italy and are in contact with the local authorities.”
