Uber users confused over little-known feature that shows exactly how drivers rate you

By staff18 March 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

An Uber user has shared a little-known feature on the app that shows how well drivers rate you with a break-down, and people have been left shocked by the results

Uber is perfect for getting about when you’re drinking, can’t drive, or, for whatever reason, don’t want to take public transport.

It’s much easier than trying to hail a black cab, and often, the rides are cheaper as well.

Once your Uber driver is on the way, you get to see their star rating – which offers an idea of what to expect behind the wheel.

Not only that, but you’ll spot ‘awards’ from other riders which tell you whether your driver has gone the extra mile, or if they keep their car super clean. But have you ever wondered how the driver rates you after each ride?

Yep, that’s right – every journey ends with the driver scoring you, too.

X user @leylaxleyla0 took to the platform, where she said: “Just learned I can check Uber ratings, girl wtf did I do?”. She was gobsmacked to discover she had a score of 4.89, not a perfect five stars.

The social media user had bagged a whopping 456 five-stars, as well as 10 four-stars, nine three-stars, three two-stars, and four one-stars.

Curious onlookers eager to scope out their own ratings asked how the social media user had found out their rating.

They were guided by the tweet, which read: “Go to your profile then click on your profile picture, then go to privacy and data and then privacy centre, and then there’s a thing that says ‘would you like to see a summary’ blah blah and you click to see summary”.

But it’s left some people baffled as to why a customer would get rated after every ride as well as the driver.

Why does Uber give ratings?

Uber sheds light on its rating system on its help page, stating: “We aim to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Drivers and riders rate each other after a trip to maintain this standard.”

They explain:

  • Riders give a star rating (1 to 5) and can select from a list of common issues to give specific feedback.
  • Riders are prompted to rate each trip before they can book another.
  • Cancelled trips cannot be rated by the rider.

What do ratings mean?

  • Uber uses ratings to maintain high quality and fairness.
  • If a rider gives less than 5 stars, they’re asked to explain so that the feedback can be constructive for you.
  • A 5-star rating means the rider had no issues during the trip.
  • Consistently low-rated drivers may face deactivation after several warnings.
  • Ratings help ensure riders enjoy a high-quality service each time.

Do you know your Uber rating? Did it shock you? Let us know in the comments…
