Google is fixing a big Gmail issue – check your inbox now for ‘important’ free upgrade

By staff26 March 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Google is releasing a free Gmail upgrade that will help you find ‘important’ emails and information more quickly.

A Gmail inbox overflowing with emails is something many of us are well aware of. With the barrage of daily messages, money-saving offers, newsletters and endless spam, it can be an impossible mission trying to keep on top of things. Google is clearly conscious of this ever-growing problem, with the US technology giant releasing a free upgrade that should help you find the emails you really need to read.

The changes are now bringing AI to Gmail inboxes in a bid to make searching for messages a whole lot easier.

“If you’ve ever struggled with finding information in your overflowing inbox, you’re not alone,” Google said in a blog post.

“That’s why Gmail is rolling out a smarter search feature powered by AI to show you the most relevant results, faster.”

Once the update arrives, Google is confident that you’ll start seeing the most relevant emails appear when tapping the search button rather than messages that have nothing to do with what you actually need.

From now on, instead of your inbox showing emails in chronological order based on keywords, Gmail search results will factor in elements like recency, most-clicked emails and frequent contacts. So, if someone messages you a lot, their emails will appear nearer the top when you search for a keyword.

“With this update, the emails you’re looking for are far more likely to be at the top of your search results — saving you valuable time and helping you find important information more easily,” Google explained.

There’s no official timeline of when this update will arrive across the globe, but it started rolling out late last week, so hopefully, it launch for everyone soon.

Google has confirmed that the “Most relevant” search results are rolling for users with personal Google accounts, and can be accessed on the web and in the official Gmail app for Android and iOS.

Once available in your account, you can also then toggle between “most relevant” and “most recent” results.

Google also says it will expand this update to business users in the future.
