Tony’s Chocolonely has been forced to recall its chocolate bars as some may contain “tiny stones”.

The Dutch chocolate company made the announcement today and due to the timing needed to reiterate that it was not an April Fools joke adding: “*This is a genuine product recall notice*”

According to the notice, two specific products from its UK and Ireland arms needed to be recalled due to the risk of small stons being in the product. Tony’s Chocolonely added: “Whilst the chance of any individual product being affected is low, we have decided to take this step in order to ensure the safety and satisfaction of Tony’s Chocolonely consumers.”

The affected bars are the brand’s Dark Almond Sea Salt chocolate bar 180g and its Everything Bar 180g. The dark chocolate bar contains 100% Belgian Fairtrade dark chocolate with almond pieces and sea salt and is priced at around £3.50. The Everything Bar contains 100% Belgian milk chocolate with pieces of caramel, almond, pretzel, nougat and sea salt.

The following lot codes and best-before dates are the products which are affected by this recall notice:

Dark Almond Sea Salt 180g:

Lot codes/ best before date

  • 162633 – 28 February 2026
  • 162614 – 28 February 2026
  • 163061 – 2 April 2026

Everything Bar 180g:

Lot codes/ best before date

  • 4331 – 26 November .2025
  • 4332 – 27 November 2025
  • 4333 – 28 November 2025

A lot code is a unique identifier assigned to a specific batch or quantity of products manufactured under the same conditions, used for tracking and traceability. It is printed on the side of the Tony’s bar and it usually starts with the letter L.

Tony Chocoloney has confirmed that the recall only affects these specific products and lot codes, and all other products remain safe to consume and are not impacted. The Dutch company says it is working in partnership with all UK retailers and food authorities on the recall. Businesses and retailers selling the affected products are working to remove them from sale.

If you have purchased one of these specific products with the affected lot codes, you have been urged not to eat them and to return it to the store where they purchased it for a full refund or replacement. If you purchased the product directly from Tony’s online, then you can report it to them through their official website here.

You can also visit the following webpage to confirm how to identify the lot code and claim a refund or replacement.

Tony’s Chocolonely spokesperson said: “We are extremely sorry to have to issue this recall, and for the inconvenience that this will cause people who purchased these products. Whilst the probability of a product being affected is low, we always put the safety and satisfaction of our consumers first and that is why we have made the decision to recall these products. We apologise to consumers and our partners for the impact this will have.”
