M&S shoppers floored by cost of beloved dessert as it returns to stores

By staff1 April 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Marks and Spencer’s popular sweet treat is a mix of two classic desserts, making it very popular among shoppers, but some are refusing to buy it this year after spotting its price tag

Marks and Spencer fans were over the moon to spot the return of its much-loved Sticky Toffee Pudding Trifle – until they spotted the price. .

Despite being founded back in 1884, Marks and Spencer continues to be a high street powerhouse, delighting shoppers with its expansive selection of high quality goods.

Whether you’re after the latest fashion trends, on the hunt for an array of trendy homeware options, or you’re after some indulgent food and beverages, M&S aims to be a one-stop-shop for all.

The retail giant stays in the loop with its clientele through savvy use of social media, where it teases all its newest products and exciting launches. A slew of Instagram accounts cater to its diverse departments, keeping followers in the know.

Popular snack account New Foods UK shared a snapshot of the store’s much-coveted Sticky Toffee Pudding Trifle on Instagram. This account is a hit among food lovers and has built a following of more than 372,000.

It’s known for sharing images and clips of the latest supermarket food and snack finds spotted in supermarkets and other stores up and down the country.

The images and videos typically shared by the account often cause a flurry of comments – and M&S’s trifle proved to be no different.

Alongside a trio of images made into a little collage to showcase the trifle from all angles, New Foods UK added a simple caption: “Sticky Toffee Pudding Trifle is back at MandS!!”

The post quickly garnered upwards of 1,200 likes, while fans flocked to the comments section to air their enthusiasm – and their shock.

One shopper said: “Delicious” while another enthused: “v special” and a third commented: “The best!!!” Several other customers tagged their pals to spread the word of the trifle’s return.

What does Marks and Spencer’s Sticky Toffee Pudding Trifle cost?

This sweet treat will set you back £15. Described on the M&S website as “two classic desserts combine in our epic Sticky Toffee Pudding Trifle”, it’s a spin on the classic British trifle.

The product description continues: “”Layers of rich toffee sauce, fresh whipped cream, luxurious vanilla custard and caramelised sponge are topped with sticky toffee sponge cubes, chocolate curls and butterscotch pieces.”

Unlike many trifles, which utilise gelatine, this trifle is vegetarian-friendly. However, nut and peanut allergy sufferers must avoid it completely as it isn’t suitable for them.

Despite its allure, the cost did raise eyebrows among some consumers. One person confessed: “I didn’t know it was £15. Got to the till with it today, scanned it and gave it back to the assistant. Absolutely not.”

Another simply stated: “£15 though”, accompanied by a shocked emoji. A third echoed the sentiment, saying: “Wasn’t paying £15 though.”

For those willing to splash out, the trifle is available for purchase online through Ocado, or you can pop into your local M&S store to grab one.
