The heated outdoor pool at Haltwhistle Leisure Centre is a very popular destination, and its 2025 re-opening date has now been confirmed
It’s a hotspot that always draws the crowds when the sun is out, and an outdoor pool less than an hour from Newcastle has announced its re-opening date for 2025.
When it comes to lidos, places like London are spoilt for choice. While we might not be as fortunate up in the North East, they do have a few gems, including the paddling pool in Morpeth and the ever-popular Splash Pad in Chester-le-Street.
However, the open-air attraction that really stands out is the outdoor pool at Haltwhistle Leisure Centre. For many years now, Haltwhistle pool has been a firm favourite for families on a hot day, reports Chronicle Live.
If the weather cooperates and temperatures hit the 20s, it can genuinely feel like you’re holidaying in Spain. Who needs the Med when you’ve got Northumberland, right?
And even if the weather isn’t playing ball, the great news is that the pool is heated anyway. Like many outdoor activities in the region, the pool has been closed over the winter months, but visitors have still been able to use the indoor pool at the leisure centre as usual.
However, following a week of rising temperatures and forecasts predicting highs of 19 degrees in the Newcastle area, it’s now been confirmed that Haltwhistle’s outdoor pool will be making a splash again in 2025, just in time for Easter on Saturday, April 19.
The leisure centre couldn’t contain their excitement and took to Facebook to announce: “This year, we’re celebrating 50 incredible years of fun, fitness, and community!
“To kick off our anniversary celebrations, our outdoor heated pool will be opening on April 19th! Get ready to dive in and make a splash!”
Timetables are due to be available from the leisure centre reception, along with Leisure Cards. Last year, early bird swims on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays started at 7am, while on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, they began at 10am.
During the week, the pools closed at 7.45pm and at 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
