Helen Flanagan enjoyed a night out with friends after opening up about her financial woes. The 34-year-old Coronation Street put her troubles to one side on Saturday night as she met up with some mates for a night out.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the mum-of-three shared a collection of snaps of herself looking like she was having a ball. In a chic black dress, complete with an eye-grabbing neckline complete with a silver effect, the star attended a party thrown by a close friend.

Uplifting snaps showed Helen beaming alongside her friends as they danced and drank the night away. With her hair draped around her shoulders, the soap star looked in high spirits as she rubbed shoulders with her attractive collection of friends.

Helen’s night of celebrations came after she issued a lengthy message about her financial situation after it was reported she was broke. In a nine minute rebuttal, the soap star said: “I keep seeing some really not nice articles being printed about myself in the press, and I want to speak about it, because it has been something that I’ve really, really struggled with this week, and it has made me feel like really, really low in mood.”

As she went on, Helen explained that she had noticed a number of articles speculating about her financial background – with some suggesting she was “skint” or “broke”.

Hitting back, she told her fans: “I’m actually not, but it’s, it’s not a nice thing at all.” She continued: “I have lost a lot of money, but I don’t owe anybody a penny. I could hold my head up high.

“I don’t owe HMRC any money. I pay my taxes. I’m a good person. I have good morals. I’ve always paid my taxes. I am not in any debt. You know which? That’s great. And I, you know, which I’m lucky to be in that position.”

Helen explained that the negative reports had taken a hit on her mental health. She revealed: “I read this article. I was in Inverness. I took my little one to Loch Ness, and I read this article just about before I was about to go into the boat. And honestly, honestly, I wanted to be like, dumped in, like, you know, a loch, like a little island of the loch somewhere, and just stay there, basically, because it’s just really humiliating.”

Calling out the articles as a form of bullying, she went on to say she wants to protect her children from the negative impact of the press. As she continued her dialogue, Helen revealed that she had suffered a break in at her house which has led to her to struggle with sleep.

Defending her own character, Helen went on to say that she would never resort to bullying herself, and feels she could hold her head high as a decent and good person even if she was “skint” one day. She continued: “I do wish the press would be kinder, and I did think that things were changing.”

She then went on to explain that she had at one point felt that she “wouldn’t have been here” if she didn’t have her three children to care for. Ending on a more positive note, Helen shared that she was looking forward to letting down her hair.

Showing off the outfit she wore on Saturday night, she said: “I’m gonna go out tonight. I’m gonna have a few drinks, and I’m so excited… I hope everyone has a little Easter. And, yeah, you shall like to come on, more positive things.”

Helen was offered support from a number of followers – including fellow star Christine McGuinness. She wrote: “It must be a slow news week, I’ve had exactly the same stories! When actually my works never been busier. I just feel for our children, it’s not nice for them and they’re so innocent.”

Christine added: “But on a positive note.. if people think we’re skint hopefully everyone will stop expecting us to pay for everything! lots of love beautiful keep shining.”

Hours later, Helen shared her collection of highlight photographs – which fans were enthusiastic about. One responded to the post to write: “Beautiful pictures x you look stunning” alongside a red heart emoji.

And another typed: “Beautiful pics! You look so happy, remember to ignore the haters they are just jealous horrible people.”
