Arsenal are set to be down one of their summer transfer options as Bayern Munich and Leroy Sane prepare to agree terms over a new contract to keep the forward at the Allianz Arena
Leroy Sane is set to agree to take a pay cut to remain at Bayern Munich despite interest from the likes of Arsenal. The German winger’s contract at the Allianz Arena was set to expire this summer.
The ex-Manchester City star, who worked with Mikel Arteta at the Etihad Stadium, is set to commit to a three-year deal with the Bundesliga giants having convinced the club’s hierarchy he is worthy of a new deal, per Bild. Despite opportunities to earn a greater sum in the Saudi Pro League, Sane is said to have agreed a €10million+€5m package (£8.53m+ £4.27m), reduced from his current €15million+€5m offering (£13.8m+£4.27).
It is Sane’s desire to stay at the club that in part helped convince Bayern to extend his deal. There is a belief he can remain a valuable player while not taking on a significant cost in the club’s salary structure
Sane could quickly see that deal re-negoitated if he impresses on the pitch too. New discussions could take place in 12 months’ time.
Last month, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl suggested that Sane’s performances had been convincing. The 29-year-old has scored 11 goals in 41 appearances this term.

“There is still no decision on Leroy,” Eberl said in March. “With his current performances, he is providing arguments in favor of a new contract.
“We have to discuss: Which contracts do we extend and how does it fit into the overall constellation? Leroy, like .everyone else, has a chance of getting a new contract.”
Former Bayern, Liverpool and Newcastle midfielder Dietmar Hamann was not convinced that Sane would do enough to earn a new deal. The 51-year-old believed that with a creative deal based upon incentives, the winger could prove a good option for Arsenal, who are now set to miss out.
“Leroy Sane’s consistency has been a problem with Bayern Munich,” Hamann told PokerScout. “This is why he probably won’t get offered a new contract.
“However, I think if you give him a performance-based contract, you’d have a brilliant player on your hands. That’s what I would do. I heard that Arsenal are interested and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case.
“I think he’s a good kid. I think some people read too much into body language, if you look at Lionel Messi’s body language you think he’s a non-league player.
“So I don’t give too much thought to that, I think he’s a good kid. The fact is he’s not been consistent enough, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be for Arsenal next season.”
