Anyone with a Gmail account might want to watch out for big free update that’s rolling out this week. Google has just confirmed the boost in a blog post with the US technology giant switching things up for millions of its users. So what’s new? Firstly, those who have Gmail on their iPhone will notice a new look when the app is launched.

The design refresh brings Apple devices in line with Google’s Material Design 3 update and matches the experience found on the web and Android phones. The changes include pill-shaped buttons on the bottom of the app, along with a rounded search bar on top.

Next, there’s good news for Android lovers: Gmail now offers a better experience on tablets and big-screen phones such as the Galaxy Fold and Pixel Fold range.

Google says that it is now allowing users more control over the email window. Thanks to new draggable dividers, owners can pick between a one-pane or two-pane Gmail experience, along with giving the option to control the width of each pane when in two-pane mode.

Another smart change is coming to both Android and iPhone with Google bringing its Gemini image creation tool to the Gmail app.

“Building upon the ability to generate images using Gemini in the side panel of Workspace apps on the web, we’re excited to announce you can now generate images in Gmail on your mobile device,” the company explained.

“Once you select the image, you can then save it, copy it, or insert it into a compose draft.”

Finally, there’s a change to Google Calendar on iOS. Last year, Google i ntroduced the ability to create and modify birthday events in Google Calendar on Android devices.

Now the firm says it is excited to announce that these capabilities are now available on ios devices as well.

There’s no news on a exact launch date for all of these features but Google has confirmed that they are rolling out now to Google Workspace customers, Google Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
