With the summer approaching and even the promise of a mini heatwave heading our way, it’s finally time to bare some skin and pull out your favourite summer clothes. If the winter has left you looking a little paler than you’d like, it might be time to pull out the fake tan to give yourself a little golden glow.
Although self tanner is a staple in many of our beauty routines, finding the right shade can be difficult – no one wants to end up with that dread green or orange undertone. That’s why we’re thrilled that Utan – whose freckle pen has been a go-to for both Sofia Richie and Hailey Bieber – has launched its brand new undertone matching self tan.

The Instant Tan Spray comes in two options, cool undertone and warm undertone, making sure you always get the most natural-looking finish for your skin. If you’re not sure about your undertone, the simplest way is to check the colour of your veins (your wrist is usually the best place for this) – cool undertones will have blue-coloured veins, whilst warm undertones will have green coloured veins. If you find you have a mixture of both, you’ll probably have a neutral undertone, which means you can combine the two for a bespoke shade that suits your skin.
As well as pairing perfectly with your skin tone, the new Instant Tan Spray is streak free and dries instantly, with no transfer onto clothes or bedding. It’s also sweat and water resistant, making it perfect for some pre-holiday prep or when you know you’ll be out and about all day long.
It also has the added bonus of smelling great. Whilst most self tans have that biscuity scent, the Instant Tan Spray has an organic vanilla and tonka fragrance which pairs perfectly with plenty of perfumes, helping to enhance and amplify your go-to perfume, rather than compete with it.
The Instant Tan Spray blends super well, and gives a sheer coverage that’s similar to body makeup, with an airbrush finish. You can also instantly wash it off with simple soap and water, so no more scrubbing your skin raw trying to get off any stubborn patches.
To use it, you simply spray it directly onto a mitt or brush, then gently buff it into your skin in a circular motion. Leave it for 60 seconds to dry before getting dressed to prevent it wearing off onto your clothes. If you want some extra protection from transfer, a spritz of setting spray over the top works wonders.
