Roy Keane sends message to David Beckham after 50th birthday snub

By staff8 May 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

England and Manchester United legend David Beckham celebrated his 50th birthday at the weekend and Gary Neville was in attendance at the swanky do, unlike former team-mate Roy Keane

Roy Keane was left asking where his invite to David Beckham’s 50th birthday was, after the former England captain celebrated with a star-studded party. The ex-Republic Ireland international joked towards former United team-mate Gary Neville, who was spotted looking worse for wear after the London soiree.

Keane and Beckham played together at Old Trafford for a decade before the latter moved to Real Madrid in a blockbuster transfer. But the 53-year-old pundit did not make the cut for Beckham’s celebrations that saw a gathering of family and friends, including Tom Cruise and Gordon Ramsay.

Neville would appear to be the only ex-United star who made the celebration at three-star Michelin restaurant Core. And on the latest episode of Stick to Football, the party became a topic of conversation.

“Did he forget about all his other team-mates? Keane joked. “Were we not good enough, know what I mean?”

Neville quipped back: “It is because you didn’t invite us to your 50th.”

Keane said: “You know my 50th, it was at the Pizza Express in Altrincham.”

“We’d have come though!” Neville chirped back, before Keane turned things back on the ex-Valencia boss: “I didn’t want you there, obviously.”

Neville admitted that he struggled to perform his commentary duties as Liverpool played Chelsea after the boozy party for Beckham’s 50th. The veteran pundit was pictured leaving the swanky do in the early hours, with his wife Emma.

And Jill Scott was quick to bring up the photographs when she came face to face with Neville. “Speaking of Beckham, how was the party?” she said.

“I’ve seen some pictures of you in the paper, you looked a bit worse for wear.” Keane piped up: “Tell me more, I’ve not seen them.”

Neville said: “It was before Sunday’s game, I wasn’t the best on Sunday.” Scott quickly returned: “No, that’s what I thought!”

Since that celebration, Neville and Beckham have joined forces to complete a takeover of League Two side Salford City. Neville was already involved with the club as part of the ‘Class of 92’ since 2014, with Beckham later joining the club.

Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville and Paul Scholes have been bought out but will still be involved in the club in some capacity. Neville and Beckham have instead joined forces with Declan Kelly, founder of U.S.-based advisory firm Consello, and Lord Mervyn Davies, chairman of the Lawn Tennis Association.

Each new member will hold a 5 percent to 10 percent stake in the club, totalling 80 percent, with the additional amount being earmarked for further partners. Interviews are to be held to appoint a chief executive of the club.

In a club statement, Beckham said: “I grew up in Salford….I have such fond memories of my time living there and the place and its people played such an important part in my early life in football. Salford City is at the heart of its community….it has a rich history and I am delighted to be a part of the next chapter.”
