Liverpool chiefs are looking ahead to the summer transfer window as they bid to strengthen Arne Slot’s squad ahead of defending their Premier League title next season
With the Premier League won, Liverpool’s focus is now on the summer transfer window. The Reds are expected to have a busy off-season as they look to defend title next campaign.
They have already made two big moves with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk having signed new contracts to remain at Anfield. But heading through the exit door is Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The right-back is yet to confirm his next destination, but it is all but certain that he will move to Real Madrid. Liverpool boss Arne Slot may well look to bring in a replacement through the transfer market.
But the Dutchman has also hinted that he will place his full trust in academy graduate Conor Bradley. Another man set to move through the exit door is Darwin Nunez, with Reds chiefs ready to call time on the striker’s time at Anfield.
Nunez had been linked with a move to his native South America, though that deal now appears to be off the table. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Liverpool transfer news.

Alexander-Arnold replacement plan
Arne Slot has hinted that he sees Conor Bradley as the ready-made replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Bradley will start ahead of his rival for the visit of Arsenal on Sunday in a clear sign he will take on the right-back spot full-time.
“Conor will start, he needs playing time, games under his belt to be prepared for next season. Light at right-back? Is that true? I think it is a surprise to you if I say we are looking at this or that, we don’t talk about the positions we want to improve the team,” he said.
“Let’s not compare with Trent already, they are different types in my opinion, we all see Conor’s potential. Unfortunately he hasn’t been fit all season but to become a good player you have to be fit all season but we have a lot of confidence in him as a very good full-back for Liverpool.”
Quansah update delivered
Liverpool boss Slot has also insisted he sees a future at Anfield for Jarell Quansah. The young defender has endured a difficult season, but Slot has insisted he still has confidence in the Englishman.
“I like that you mention he played a good game at Chelsea, maybe the last step he has to make and it’s consistency levels, not to be involved in the moments that happened in the last minute [conceding a penalty],” Slot said.
“Jarell has developed all season and the next step is for him not to be involved in things like the last minute. Jarell is fast, strong, comfortable on the ball, has all the ingridients for this club, then it is consistency in his performances.”
Nunez suffers blow
Darwin Nunez has suffered a blow to his hopes of leaving Liverpool this summer. The Reds are ready to cut ties with the striker, who has failed to live up to the club-record £85million fee Benfica received for him three years ago.
One team who had been linked with buying the Uruguayan was River Plate. But the Argentine giants have now ruled themselves out of buying the 25-year-old this summer.
River’s general secretary Stefano Di Carlo told TyC Sports: “All those names are false. River made a strong transfer market in January. Of course, they will surgically seek out and strengthen certain positions; but that will happen when the transfer market opens. Everything that was said is not real.”
