Why is Man Utd vs West Ham not on UK TV? How to watch Premier League action

By staff11 May 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Manchester United and West Ham will meet on Sunday with both clubs in dire need of three points as they look to end long runs without a win and climb the Premier League table

Manchester United may be fresh off reaching the Europa League final, but they now turn their attention to the Premier League as they face West Ham. The Red Devils have received quite the reprieve from their European adventure this season.

Despite Ruben Amorim’s arrival, the club have struggled on the domestic front with United without a win since beating the now relegated Leicester City 3-0 in mid March. Graham Potters’ Hammers aren’t faring much better.

The Irons have been struggling and haven’t won in the league since they also defeated the Foxes 2-0, all the way back in February. West Ham did hand United one of their 16 losses this season however, when they two met at the London Stadium in October.

Then managed by Julen Lopetegui, Crysencio Summerville and a late Jarrod Bowen penalty earned West Ham a 2-1 win over a United side then overseen by Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman subsequently received his marching orders after the defeat, making way for Amorim.

Why is Manchester United vs West Ham not on TV?

With United’s continued success in the Europa League, their clash against West Ham was moved to Sunday. Amorim’s side played Athletic Bilbao on Thursday evening, booking their place in the final with a 4-1 win on the night, and a 7-1 win on aggregate.

However, with four other matches taking place on Sunday, Sky Sports have chosen to cover two other ties, and TNT Sports has chosen to air the other, meaning UK fans will not be able to follow United vs West Ham on TV.

Starting next season this will change as all matches not scheduled for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday will be broadcast live in the UK due to the Premier League’s new TV deal.

The Sky Sports app and YouTube channel will have highlights available after the game however, with Match of the Day 2 broadcasting on BBC One at 10.30pm.

Which Premier League games are on TV?

Despite United and West Ham not being on the box, fans can tune in to three other matches across Sunday. TNT Sports will be showing the shoot-out for Champions League places between Newcastle and Chelsea at 12:00pm.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports will broadcast European football-chasing Nottingham Forest’s clash with Championship-bound Leicester City, with kick-off set for 14:15.

While Arsenal, fresh off their Champions League semi-final disappointment, will head to Anfield to take on Premier League champions Liverpool.

That game kicks-off at 16:30 with all eyes expected to be on Mikel Arteta’s and his team’s guard of honour for Arne Slot’s triumphant side.
