A man has shared his honest review of Toby Carvery after trying it for the first time recently. He insists he had “dreamt of this moment” and “waited all their life” to try Britain’s best-known carvery spot.

Matt and Omar, a couple who live in San Francisco in the US, recently travelled to the UK for Omar’s brother’s wedding. Because the couple are known online for their viral food reviews – boasting 1.4million TikTok followers – they, of course had to try some of the most popular British treats – from the viral strawberries at Borough Market to Greggs, a chippy tea and Cadbury’s Creme Eggs.

Plus, the pair also tucked into a roast dinner at a Toby Carvery in Bolton, Greater Manchester. Taking to their TikTok page @mattandomar, Omar said: “I took my American husband to Toby Carvery for the first time.” Matt said he was “so excited”.

Going up the carvery line, Matt ordered turkey and pork for his meat, before pilling his plate with extras like stuffing, potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding, and vegetables.

He added: “What is a Yorkshire pudding, I thought pudding was a dessert?” After sampling his meal, he said: “That is Thanksgiving, it tastes like Thanksgiving in a bite. You can have Thanksgiving all the time here. We only have it once a year and you have it all the time. This is heaven.”

However, he was not so keen on cauliflower cheese. He concluded his experience by saying: “I’m happy.” People also suggested that Omar should take Matt to a Wetherspoons restaurant for his next UK food review.

Many rushed to comment on the video of Matt’s experience, as. one individual said: “As an American, I loved Toby Carvery.” A Canadian resident added: “I love me a Toby Carvery. I live in Canada and crave a Toby whenever the weather is sad.”

One other who feels like they are missing out, wrote: “I like in the UK and I have STILL never been to Toby Carvery even when I drive past it nearly every day.” One other insisted: “Only having a roast dinner once a year is criminal. Sort it out, America!”

“Oh I loved Toby Carvery for an easy family meal,” added another. One other insisted: “I think Toby carvery is underrated lowkey it’s nice and I don’t care, I’ll stand by it.”

Toby Carvery themselves even got in on the commenting action, writing: “We are obsessed.”

One individual who was not-so keen, commented: “My boyfriend is British and last year he took me to Toby Carvery because I always wanted to go and I literally cried because the food was disgusting.”

Another added: “I’m a British, love a roast, but Toby Carvery is awful.”
