An arrest has been made after police received reports of a woman of approaching a baby in a pram on Central Drive in Blackpool on May 10 at around 11.55am
A 51-year-old woman has been charged after she allegedly tried to snatch a baby in a pram in a busy tourist hotspot. Police were called to an incident on May 10 at around 11.55am in Blackpool after it was reported a woman approached a baby in a pram on Central Drive.
It was then reported that the woman had attempted to walk away with the pram. Members of the public, including the parents, quickly intervened and the baby was unharmed. Nicolette Goldrick, 51, was arrested on suspicion of child abduction and police assault following an investigation into the alleged incident, LancsLive reports.
The suspect has been remanded in custody and will appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court this morning (May 12).
Chief Inspector John Jennings-Wharton said: “A woman has been charged and I am limited in what I can say at this point.
“However, I wanted to reassure the community that this continues to be treated as an isolated incident and we are not looking for anybody else in relation to this incident.
“I know this incident has understandably caused the community a great deal of concern and I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank people for their patience and allowing us to fully investigate this matter.
“Finally, I just wanted to thank the investigation team for their hard work and diligence which has led to us being in a position to charging an individual in relation to this incident.”
