A man who is suspected of carrying out the theft of £3000 in cash from has sparked a major police manhunt and a warning to the public to avoid the alleged thief – a black haired man named Johnny Cash.

Cash is alleged to have carried out the theft last year at a home in Alton, East Hampshire. The 35-year-old is from nearby Farnborough, but police have said he could have crossed county lines into areas of Surrey.

Information about the 35-year-old alleged burglar’s whereabouts is being urgently sought by Hampshire Police, who have issued the appeal just over a year after the incident.

In addition to black hair, Hampshire native Cash was described by officers as having hazel-coloured eyes and being 5ft9ins in height.

Police have also warned the public that any attempts to shield the wanted man, Johnny Cash, from justice could be viewed as a criminal offence and result in arrest.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:

“We are issuing an appeal as part of our ongoing efforts to locate wanted man Johnny Cash. The 35-year-old from Farnborough has recently been identified as someone we would like to speak to in connection to a burglary which happened in April last year.

“On 29 April 2024, over £3,000 cash was stolen from an address in Victoria Road East, Alton.

“He is described as a white male of medium build approximately 5ft 9in tall with black hair and hazel coloured eyes.

“It is believed he may be in the area of Farnborough or over the border in nearby areas of Surrey.

“We would like to remind people that anyone found to be harbouring Johnny to deliberately obstruct our attempts to locate him may be committing an offence and be liable for arrest themselves.

“If you have seen him, or have information regarding his whereabouts, please do not approach him and instead contact police on 101, quoting 44240178936.”
