Save £55 on ‘easy to use’ Garmin GPS for cyclists and E-bikes in Amazon’s extended tech sale

Amazon has extended its tech sale for another week, and its the perfect opportunity to save yourself more than £55 on Garmin’s GPS that makes navigating while cycling a breeze

Getting outdoors is one of the best ways to enjoy the summer weather, and cycling is a great way to keep fit whilst getting some fresh air. Whether you prefer a traditional bicycle or have upgraded to an electric bike to give you some extra momentum, it’s also a great way to get around without spending ages sitting in the car.

However, navigation is definitely a much trickier problem when you’re getting around on two wheels instead of four, which is why a GPS system is a must-have if you’re planning longer routes. Garmin’s Edge Explore 2 has been specially designed to fit to the front of your bike, giving you ride type-specific maps and even e-bike routing to get around.

It’s usually quite a splurge at £249.99, but as Amazon has extended its tech week sale for a limited time, you can currently snap it up for £192.31. That means you’ll save more than £57 thanks to the 23% price cut.

One of the benefits of using a designated cycling GPS like the Garmin Edge Explore 2 is that it’s been carefully mapped to give you the best cycle routes to take, as well as alerting you to things like high traffic roads that you may want to avoid. It will give you ride type-specific maps that include popular roads and trails with other cyclists, and give you routing based on bike riding, rather than driving or walking.

If you have an E-bike, you can also connect the Garmin GPS to it, where it’ll give you navigation guidance as well as alerts about your battery levels, range and assist levels. You’ll also get a large three inch display that’s visible even in direct sunlight and is rain- and glove-friendly, making it easy to use on the go.

For something that helps push you to the next level, the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt 3 GPS Cycling Computer is £299.99 and has plenty of features designed to improve things like speed, personal bests and your training schedule. It’s also smaller and lighter to improve aerodynamics, giving you the best possible ride. For something a little more budget friendly, the GPSPORT BSC300T Bike Computer GPS is £129.99.

However Amazon shoppers have been praising the Garmin Edge Explore 2, with one saying: “Really pleased with this Garmin, does everything I was looking for. Easy to use and quick to set up.”

Another agreed: “Bought mainly for navigation and it doesn’t disappoint. Very easy to set up and use. I can even control my Ribble e-bike from it which is a bonus. As good as it gets at that price point.”

One found it less intuitive to use, writing: “I have this device and I find it very difficult to navigate and the small screen makes it difficult to view the map, and it is also very slow to search for addresses or connect to satellites. This device is made of plastic and possibly fragile.”

However others disagreed completely, saying: “Used it to navigate across the country for a 150 mile ride, the big screen makes it very easy to see where you’re going and the battery lasts forever (cycled for 13 hours and it went from 98% to 40% without battery saving mode).”
