Brit child, 8, seriously injured after ‘running through glass window pane’

By staff15 May 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

An eight year old is said to have “run through” a pane of glass at the hotel in Magaluf and is now receiving treatment in hospital after suffering deep cuts in the accident

A British child has been seriously injured after smashing into a glass window at a hotel in Spain.

The eight-year-old is said to have “run through” a pane of glass in a freak accident around midday at the hotel in Magaluf while he was with his parents. He suffered deep cuts and after being examined by paramedics he was transferred to hospital for an emergency operation.

Local reports said he had hurt himself after starting to run along a corridor and smashing into what appears to have been a glass display.

The operation is understood to have taken place at Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma. The hotel has not been named but it was on Avenida de Las Palmeras in Magaluf. Police were called to the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident.

There is no suggestion at this stage the hotel was at fault in any way but police are now carrying out a full investigation into what happened and check that no safety regulations were breached.

It is not clear at the moment exactly what injuries the child has suffered or what his current state is, with no comment yet from the hospital or police.

Meanwhile, last month a British cyclist died while competing in a famous Majorcan amateur race last month with tributes pouring in for him. Phillip Williams, 39, lost his life after a fall despite attempts by emergency medical responders to save him.

A police probe has now been taking place with investigators looking to confirm whether Mr Williams had died because of the injuries he sustained after coming off the road and crashing into railings or if his death was linked to a previous health problem he suffered that led to the fall.

Hannah Fawcett, from Liverpool Braveheart Cycle Club, issued a statement on April 27 and said: “It is with great sadness I write that our club mate Phil Williams tragically died following a fatal accident in the Majorca 312 yesterday. Phil will be deeply missed by us all. An exceptional bike rider with so many outstanding achievements and a wonderful person too.

She added: “He will be remembered always and hold a place in our hearts forever. It is so terribly hard to comprehend what has happened. Our thoughts, love and deepest sympathies with his family and friends at this very sad time.”
