The listing for a fully-furnished bedroom stated it came with hot water and use of the kitchen and bathroom – but it was the images that caught people’s attention
A landlord’s advert for a flat to let has caused a stir after keen-eyed renters after one of the photos contained an odd list of demands. The post offered a full-furnished bedroom to rent close to Adelaide airport and the city’s business district in Australia.
The listing said it came with hot water and use of the kitchen, complete with a large fridge and fan, and bathroom. But it was some of the images, that were posted alongside the advert that caught people’s attention as they appeared to show a list of instructions on how to use the shower in a bid to minimise mess and damage.

The instructions were taped to the outside of a shower cubicle in the shared bathroom and were written on two A4 sheets of paper in colourful handwriting with the title PLEASE HELP, followed be a list on instructions.
Some of the instructions included how to close the doors: “slowly” and “slightly” in a bid to prevent the doors from breaking. It added: “If [pulled] fast all pulleys and hooks are broken”.
Other instructions required tenants to mop up the floor after using the amenities and stand in a specific position while taking a shower. It read: “Please stand your back to tile walls … (with) your face directly to doors – so water not drop to outside/floor.”
The listing was originally shared on a local Facebook group, before being taken down, although it is not clear if that was because the landlord saw the comments or if he had managed to fill the room.
It was later shared on Reddit with one commenter saying: “My prison cell was nicer, but I didn’t get a whole bookcase.”
Some described the property as “scary”, while others lamented the state of the rental market. One comment read: “(The) sad part is people are jumping on these opportunities because there is nothing else.”
