Drug dealer killed mum when he rammed into an e-bike in his 4×4, court told

Alan Armstrong, 25, who had a six-year-old son, was a pillion passenger on the Sur-Ron bike when it was allegedly hit by Keaton Muldoon on a country road in Derbyshire.

A mum-of-one died after being knocked off an e-bike when it was deliberately rammed by a speeding 4×4, a court heard. Alana Armstrong, 25, was a pillion passenger on the Sur-Ron bike when it crashed on a country lane in Derbyshire last November.

Jurors were told 4×4 driver Keaton Muldoon repeatedly tried to hit her and her boyfriend off the electric bike. Alana, who had a six-year-old son, went “over the whole car” after the bike was rammed by the drug dealer in Pleasley, Derbys, a court heard. Muldoon, 23, of Mansfield, Notts, denies murder but previously admitted causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving. He also denies causing grievous bodily harm to Alana’s boyfriend, Jordan Newton-Kay.

Derby crown court heard Mr Newton-Kay told police he and another biker had been “pursued and chased” by a dark 4×4. He said he saw Alana, from Tibshelf, Derbys, “roll over the whole car” when the vehicle hit the bike’s back wheel.

Sally Howes QC said Alana suffered “unsurvivable catastrophic injuries” and died at the scene. Mr Newton-Kay, who was riding the e-bike, was seriously injured and had to have part of his leg amputated.

Ms Howes told the court that the vehicle – a Land Rover Discovery – had been parked up in “darkness” in a field. She said Mr Newton-Kay saw it and decided to “take a closer look” together with the other motorcycle rider.

The court heard they noticed two figures inside, before the vehicle, driven by Muldoon, “spun round” and “came straight at” them. She told the jury that Mr Newton-Kay said the defendant “just ploughed us” and “left us for dead, did not even touch the brakes”.

The jury heard that Muldoon admitted to police that he was the driver but claimed the crash had been an accident.

The trial continues.
