Manchester United are set for a busy summer in the transfer window as Ruben Amorim prepares for his first pre-season in charge at Old Trafford looking to improve his squad
With European football off the table and one Premier League game remaining, the season is all but over for Manchester United. The 16th-placed team in England can still have a say on Champions League qualification but only by denting Aston Villa’s hopes with a positive result at Old Trafford.
It is little wonder that United’s focus is now on the transfer window. The intense scrutiny placed upon the club is only set to increase amid the news the Red Devils will listen to offers for any of their current players.
A busy summer awaits with the club appearing to need to overhaul their squad to improve upon a dismal season and to prepare the team for Ruben Amorim’s first pre-season in charge of the club. United will hope to earn significant fees from the likes of Marcus Rashford and Antony as they attempt to replenish their funds.
The club have been widely linked to signing a new striker, with the likes of Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap linked to the club. But that alone will not fix Amorim’s issues.

Amorim’s demand
Ruben Amorim still hopes to strengthen his squad this summer and has made his desires clear ahead of the transfer window opening. Despite an impending firesale, Amorim’s focus remains on improving his squad after a difficult start to life in England.
The 40-year-old Portuguese coach wants to see an improvement in midfield and wants the club to target players who will add pace, power and athleticism, per ESPN. Amorim has previously highlighted the physical demands of the Premier League as causing his side issues.
Deco speaks out on Rashford
Barcelona sporting director Deco has admitted the La Liga giants are interested in both Manchester United ‘s Marcus Rashford and Liverpool star Luis Diaz this summer. The Catalan club have long been linked with Rashford who is poised to depart Old Trafford this summer.
Rashford is understood to prefer a move to Barcelona ahead of a transfer to Aston Villa, where he has been on loan, or another Premier League rival. United will hope to bring in a fee for the forward who fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim.
“We like Luis, we like Rashford, and we like other players,” Deco told Catalan radio station RAC 1. “Out of respect, talking about players who are under contract with other clubs is complicated. When we go to the market, there are names we know that could improve the team.”
Transfer ‘announced soon’
Manchester United will confirm the transfer of Matheus Cunha ‘soon’ according to reports. The Red Devils are set to trigger the Wolves star’s £625m release clause to bring the Brazilian to the club, with United’s failure to qualify for Europe said to have no impacted the deal.
