Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho could be offered the chance to return to Germany, but his route to Bayer Leverkusen could yet be blocked by the incoming manager, Erik ten Hag
Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly considering an offer to sign Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window. Sancho is facing yet another uncertain summer after spending the season on loan with Chelsea, but could be offered a new escape route back to Germany.
United are desperate to sell Sancho and fellow outcasts Marcus Rashford, Antony and Tyrell Malacia once the window opens. The club need to raise funds for a major squad rebuild and their loanees represent the most obvious route, although they are willing to listen to offers for any of their players.
Sancho has not set the world alight during his time at Chelsea, returning just three goals and five assists in 30 Premier League appearances this season. The Blues have the option to sign the 25-year-old on a permanent deal this summer for £25million, and while likely, that is not set in stone.
United would be due £5m if Chelsea backed out of the deal, yet The Independent reports that they are yet to decide either way. The club will assess their options once the season is over, with their full focus currently on the final game of the season, against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, when they can rubber-stamp a place in the Champions League.

That uncertainty has prompted Leverkusen to come forward, with the German club keeping an eye on how the situation develops. Leverkusen are braced for a summer of upheaval, with manager Xabi Alonso heading to Real Madrid and Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz both potentially joining Liverpool.
With Wirtz valued at £120m, the German side could be flush with cash to rebuild once the window opens. They reportedly believe that they can provide Sancho with the perfect environment to rediscover his best, having seen just how good he can be during his time at Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho has 40 goals and 47 assists in 118 appearances for Dortmund and retains a strong reputation in Germany. Were he to move to Leverkusen, he would be reunited with Erik ten Hag, who is in pole position to replace Alonso.

After interest in Como’s Cesc Fabregas, Leverkusen are ready to appoint Ten Hag on a two-year contract. The Dutchman is looking to revive his career after being sacked by United in October – and he might not be keen on the signing of Sancho.
Ten Hag famously fell out with Sancho after publicly calling out his level in training – an accusation which led to a spat with the winger. It was Ten Hag who forced Sancho to re-join Dortmund on loan in January 2024 and there was a frosty reintroduction in United’s pre-season last summer.
