A chilling discovery was made by locals in India on Monday, as a family-of-seven were tragically found dead inside a parked vehicle, including three children, according to police
A family of seven, including three children, were tragically found dead inside a parked car by horrified locals. Police confirmed the harrowing discovery on Monday night after residents discovered the bodies locked inside a parked vehicle outside a house.
Authorities believe 42-year-old Praveen Mittal, his parents, wife, and three children, were heavily in debt, which prompted them to enter into a tragic suspected suicide pact. Police believe Mr Mittal had come to Panchkula, India with his family on Monday to attend a Hanuman Katha programme.
It is claimed that when the event finished, the family allegedly agreed to enter into a suicide pact while returning to Dehradun.
The deceased were identified as Mr Mittal, 42, along with his parents, wife, and their two daughters and son. Punit Rana, who first spotted the car parked outside his house, quickly called for an ambulance.
Police were able to break the doors of the car and rushed the victims to a local hospital. Tragically, they were all declared dead on arrival. Authorities confirmed they recovered a suicide note from the scene. An investigation into their deaths is underway.
Detective Himadri Kaushik, who is leading the investigation, told local media: “This is too early to reach any conclusion. Investigations are in progress, and we’re trying to get in touch with their kin to complete the inquest and other formalities.”
It comes months after a seven-year-old girl who survived her mum’s triple murder-suicide rampage tragically died after fighting for her life in hospital.
Olivia Blackmer was shot in the head by her mother Tranyelle Harshman at the family’s home in Byron, Wyoming, on February 10 in a horror attack during which the 32-year-old killed three of her other children.
Harshman – who was living with postpartum depression and PTSD – shot dead Olivia’s older sister Brailey, nine, and her two younger twin half-sisters, two-year-old Brooke and Jordan.
The mum then called 911 and told authorities where to find her children’s bodies before turning the gun on herself, and later died at hospital following the arrival of first responders at the scene, who transferred gravely injured Olivia to Utah Children’s Hospital, where she underwent emergency brain surgery.
She spent several days under heavy sedation before her step-mum announced the sad news that she had died from her injuries.
Writing in an update on a GoFundMe account she had set up to help raise money for her medical expenses, Katelynn Beatty said on Monday that Olivia had fought “up to the last minute”.
But she added that the nine-year-old’s body had “been through too much” and she succumbed to her injuries.
