Moment gangster Ross Monaghan tries to flee Costa Del Sol bar before being shot dead

British gangland figures Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jnr have died after being gunned down in Fuengirola, Spain. Chilling footage has now emerged showing their last moments

Grim footage has captured the moment gangster Ross Monaghan was chased around a pub on the Costa del Sol before he was fatally shot alongside fellow hood Eddie Lyons Jr. The footage has emerged following the incident outside Monaghan’s pub in Fuengirola in Spain Saturday night.

The graphic footage, broadcast on Spanish TV today, showed the gunman dressed in black honing in on Monaghan as he stumbles and drops helpless to his knees in front of him. Two innocent bystanders thought to include a waitress and another man in black whose identity is not known can be seen running for their lives before the hitman calmly pumps at least four bullets into the Glaswegian crime figure’s chest and stomach from close range.

The stomach-churning footage was broadcast this morning on popular Telecinco programme El Programa de Ana Rosa – we have chosen to show only a brief excerpt. The full video shows Monaghan, 43 – believed to be the owner of Monaghan’s bar in Fuengirola where Saturday night’s shooting occurred just after the end of the Champions League final – appearing to turn round and look into his killer’s eyes after being forced to crawl on all fours to try to get away following his fall before realising he has no escape. After being shot he sits upright against a wall, motionless and blood seeping out from his stomach wounds onto his white T-shirt as his life ebbs away.

The gunman was seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black jacket and black shorts, plus a white T-shirt round their neck the were thought to have used to hide their face before striking. Local reports today said Monaghan got the chance to try to escape after Lyons Jnr, 46, was killed instantly outside because the gunman’s weapon jammed.

Further footage shows a female Good Samaritan carrying out CPR on Lyons Jr outside the boozer. A voice can be heard saying “help him” as the woman’s voice performs CPR.

A source said: “At first no one could quite believe what had happened but had heard the shots going off.”

The Glasgow gangsters are believed to have been out watching the Champions League final at the bar. Ross Monaghan is registered as the owner of Monaghan’s pub which looks onto the beachfront in the popular holiday resort.

Reports indicate a masked gunman got out of a car before fleeing the scene in the same vehicle driven by an accomplice. It is believed the shootings are linked to an ongoing gangland war in Scotland. No arrests have been made.

Monaghan, who fled Scotland in January 2017 to head for the Costa Del Sol, after he was shot twice in a gun attack outside a primary school in Glasgow. Monaghan was reportedly shot twice by a gunman lurking outside St George’s Primary, Penilee.

The feud first erupted following a fallout between rival gangsters after a £500k stash of cocaine was reportedly swiped from under the nose of Dubai-based ‘Mr Big’, Ross McGill. The drugs were reportedly taken by caged Edinburgh kingpin Mark Richardson’s foot soldiers, sparking a series of violent attacks on homes and businesses. Richardson is closely associated with the Daniel crime clan whose base is the other side of Scotland, in Glasgow.

McGill is said to have recruited members of Glasgow’s Lyons crime clan – bitter rivals of the Daniel family – in his war against Richardson and his associates. His enforcers, a faceless and frightening group going by the name of Tamo Junto (TMJ), have carried out a series of fire bombings and other vicious attacks on homes, businesses and cars associated with Richardson and his allies.

It was previously reported this week that a well-placed source said McGill, had agreed to end hostilities after being leaned on by cartel bosses in Dubai. However gangland enforces Tamo Junto (TMJ) quickly quashed any talk of peace as they vowed to continue to carry out the turf war.
