Former glamour model Katie Price’s children Junior and Princess, who she shares with ex-husband Peter Andre, are said to be keeping a ‘professional distance’ from their mum
Katie Price has reportedly been left heartbroken after suggestions emerged that two of her eldest children, Princess and Junior, should publicly distance themselves due to worries over her unpredictable behaviour.
The former glamour model’s eldest two children, who she had with ex-husband Peter Andre, are carving their own niches in the limelight but are seemingly steering clear from being associated with their mum’s celebrity status.
A source confided in Express.co.uk: “There’s been a clear shift. Princess and Junior love their mum but have been advised not to mix business with family, especially when it comes to joint red carpet appearances or interviews. It’s not about cutting her off, it’s about protecting their own brands.”
These revelations come in the wake of Katie, 47, facing a variety of legal woes, including a warrant for her arrest issued in March when she failed to attend a court date concerning her bankruptcy case.
Despite owing in excess of £750,000 to creditors, Katie defended herself saying she was abroad at the time of the hearing. After being detained at Heathrow Airport upon her return to the UK, Katie made an appearance at the High Court.
The star has been discharged of her tax debts since, with her overdue payments comprising income tax, VAT, surcharges and interest, as reported by the Express, all accumulated from self-assessments in the two years leading up to 2022.
Katie Price has recently come under fire from animal rights campaigners after she shared a video showing her new puppy Rookie looking distressed during horse riding activities.
“She’s constantly in the headlines for the wrong reasons,” an insider commented.
“It’s tough for her kids who are trying to build their own reputations. No one wants to see their parent branded ‘toxic’ online, but it’s the reality they’re navigating.”
Asked for a statement by Express.co.uk, Katie’s representative declined to comment.
Princess, 17, is carving out her niche with multiple beauty deals and is rumoured to be putting together a reality show separate from her mother’s fame.
Her brother Junior, 19, is forging ahead with his music ambitions, often appearing alongside his dad Peter and stepmum Emily at events.
Despite any possible friction, Katie opened up about her relationship with her children on The Katie Price Show podcast, expressing: “They’re doing their own thing, they’re busy, but I’m always here for them.”
Regarding co-parenting with ex-husband Peter Andre, she admitted: “I don’t always agree with things, but at the end of the day we both love the kids and that’s what matters.”
Sources say there might be a “professional distance” between Katie and her children’s burgeoning careers for some time yet.
The source added: “They’ll never turn their backs on Katie, but when it comes to their careers, they’re being smart. They want to be seen as individuals, not as part of the circus.”
