Fearne Cotton proves cordurory is cool with two vintage-inspired suits from Joanie

Ever since she graced our screens in the ’90s as a children’s TV presenter, Fearne Cotton has become a staple in British pop culture – not just as a broadcaster and author, but as a bona fida style icon. Known for her effortless blend of retro and modern styles, Fearne’s wardrobe is a constant source of inspiration for vintage lovers everywhere.

And recently, she served up double the fashion inspiration, stepping out in two bold corduroy suits from Joanie. Fearne wore the Jarvis cord suit in both teal and rust orange, proving that when it comes to fashion, more is more.

Sold as separates, the tailored trousers (£69) and double-breasted blazer (£99) are crafted from soft organic cotton with added stretch for all-day comfort. The blazer features oversized buttons and a timeless shape, while the trousers offer flattering flared legs, belt loops and slant pockets.

The star gave each suit its own unique twist. With the rust orange, Fearne added edge with a graphic tee and pointed black boots. For the teal suit, she kept the look fresh and playful with shiny green boots that added just the right amount of contrast.

The suits are made from organic cotton with a hint of stretch for comfort.

To channel Fearne’s effortlessly cool aesthetic, pair the suit with a vintage band tee or bold printed top. Or keep it classic with a crisp white shirt underneath and add loafers or heeled boots for a polished weekday look.

Don’t be afraid to break up the suit, either. Try the trousers with a chunky knit or the blazer with a midi dress for a casual yet chic look. Accessories-wise, think oversized sunglasses, a slouchy leather tote or a printed scarf tied at the neck.

For those who aren’t fans of corduroy, there are plenty of other matching suits available. We love this striped River Island set, featuring a striped linen-blend waistcoat and matching trousers, available for £39 and £36, respectively.

Otherwise, Nobody’s Child has a gorgeous tailored suit range to explore. There are a wealth of colours to consider, from butter yellow to pastel pink, but we’ve got our eye on this timeless gingham print for a spring-ready outfit.

Back to Joanie, there aren’t many reviews online. But one person who bought the teal trousers said: “I love these trousers so much. It is so comfy and smart, and I love this teal colour. I bought a size 18. They’re a good fit.”

However, another shopper with the rust orange trousers had a couple of issues: “Nice retro design but didn’t suit me. I was hoping they would be a bit looser fitting in the legs.

“The design is more 90s bootleg than 70s flare. I found them a bit too clingy and revealing around the bum – unfortunately, the design doesn’t work without a thong, which I hate wearing. Fabric is nice, though.”

Still, with two colours to choose from and endless styling potential, this cord suit is a winner—and we’ve got Fearne to thank for the inspiration. The suits are available via Joanie here.
