A pregnant woman who was craving a Greggs sausage roll whilst holidaying in Portugal has hailed the “hero” who flew to her rescue. Jamie Nyland and his wife, Lauren, shared their joy and disbelief as their dedicated saviour made the 1,000-mile journey to save the day.

“I still CANNOT believe this,” Jamie admitted on Facebook afterwards. “My wife Lauren had a pregnancy craving two days ago, she really wanted a Greggs sausage roll whilst on holiday. My brother travelled all day all the way to Portugal to bring her it and now is leaving 24 hours after.” Jamie shared snaps of an appreciative Lauren holding the goods a loft – a single sausage roll and an additional four pack to tide her over for the rest of the pair’s getaway. “What a kind man,” he added. “Thank you bro. Have a safe journey home.”

Writing in response, one Facebook user praised: “That’s adorable, really nice and sweet of him to do that I couldn’t even get my guy to go Morrisons!” A second person added: “There’s your godfather right there!”

While third declared: “What a hero!”

A fourth Facebook user hailed: “That’s devotion! Wow unbelievable!” Whilst a fifth concurred: “Very thoughtful and he got to enjoy some sunshine and spend time with the family too.”

Meanwhile another Facebook user suggested Jamie’s brother’s actions weren’t actually required. “Best of it, you can get them in a British store at retail park near Albufeira shopping centre,” the explained. “They have stuff from Waitrose, Co-op and a massive Iceland range, when my family used to live out there they got the stuff they were missing from home like Pringles etc.”

Jamie later returned to his account to appeal for help in naming their baby, which is due in eight weeks. “So… we’ve been really stuck with picking a name for our baby,” he confessed in a post. “We had [daughter] Arabella’s name months before but this time we’re so stuck.

“We THINK we have just ONE name we like.. but we’re not sure. What names match with Arabella and Roman? Also – we seen some people say you won’t feel a name until they’re born, is this true?

Of course, the name Greg was quickly suggested as one Facebook user suggested: “Considering you were craving sausage rolls thousands of miles away and there was a delivery made maybe if a boy call him Greg.”

Whilst another wrote: “Sometimes you just know when you see that little face looking up at you it just comes to you. I’m sure you will know when the time is right.”

And a third agreed: “I think when your baby’s born you will look and say they look like a name and use that.”
