UK weather maps turn blue revealing exact date 400-mile rain wall to soak Brits

By staff16 June 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Weather maps show a huge band of rain, some 400 miles long, hitting cities across the UK with rain set to fall from Inverness to Bangor and across to Belfast

A colossal band of rain, stretching 400 miles, is set to drench cities across the UK following a sizzling 35C heatwave. According to weather forecaster WXCharts, rainfall is expected across a huge swathe of the country on Monday, June 30.

This comes just days after parts of the South East and East Anglia are set to experience temperatures peaking at a sweltering 35C on June 23. Cities such as Stirling, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Bangor, Lancaster, Blackpool, Preston, Bolton, Liverpool and Carlisle are all bracing for a soaking, as indicated by WXCharts’ maps. However, towns across central and southern Scotland, most of Northern Ireland and North West England also fall within the area covered by the band of rain.

Despite being two weeks away, WXChart’s mapping seems to align with the Met Office’s long-range forecast from June 28 to July 13. The Met Office suggests a “broad” northwest to southeast divide is “likely” during this period, with the wettest and windiest conditions expected in the northwest.

The Met Office also warns of potential heavy rain at times. It states: “More settled in the southeast with conditions drier overall, although some rain may spread across at times and there is a risk of isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms as well.”, reports the Express. According to the Met Office, temperatures are expected to be near or above normal, “perhaps” with some hot spells in the southeast.

Monday offers a greyer picture for northwestern Scotland, drizzled with rain here and there. The rest of the country should expect any early fog to lift, making way for another “fine” day complete with warm sunny spells, though it’ll get breezy up north.

From Tuesday to Thursday, southern areas are set to see drier and sunnier conditions as high pressure takes charge. While normal temperatures persist in the north, the southeast could bask in “very warm” weather. Anticipate more wind in northern parts.

The latest forecast comes after a warm weekend for many, with the hottest day of the year recorded on Friday, with 29.4C in Levington, Suffolk. But that humidity also led to storms especially in the southeast where a month’s worth of rain fell overnight and caused flooding.

Met Office longe range forecast

From Friday June 20, through to Sunday June 29, the Met Office predicts: “Most parts of the UK are expected to be fine and dry at the start of this period, with a low risk of thundery showers in the west. Then a northwest to southeast split is likely to develop.

“The wettest and windiest conditions are expected in the northwest, with rain at times which may be heavy in places. It will likely be very warm or perhaps hot at first in the north, quickly becoming near normal or slightly above.

“More settled in the southeast with conditions drier overall, although some rain will probably spread from the west or northwest at times. There is also the risk that isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms could develop at times. Temperatures are expected to be above normal, perhaps with some hot spells.”
