The UK is working to set up charter flights to evacuate Brits from Israel as the Middle East crisis escalates.
No10 confirmed officials are liaising with Israeli authorities to begin charter flights from Tel Aviv when the airspace reopens. Israel and Iran both launched air strikes into each others’ territory on Friday, a week after a surprise Israeli strikes ramped up the risk of all-out war in the region.
At least 24 people have been killed in Israel and 224 in Iran by missiles in the past week, each country said.
It comes as ministers call for a diplomatic solution to the conflict between Israel and Iran. Foreign Secretary David Lammy has travelled to Geneva where he is holding talks with the Iranian foreign minister.
The world is on edge as US President Donald Trump weighs up US military involvement in the conflict.
