A sweltering end to June is on the way, with a fresh heatwave set to send temperatures soaring across the UK – and peaking at a blistering 34C.

The UK is bracing for even hotter conditions than the scorcher just passed, with highs of 34C expected as early as June 30. According to Netweather TV charts – already glowing bright yellow ahead of next week’s scorcher – Kent looks set to lead the pack with temperatures of up to 34C, followed by Essex at 33C. Suffolk and Norfolk are on track for 32C, while Greater London and Middlesex are close behind at 32C. Surrey could reach 31C. Sussex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, and Buckinghamshire are also set to sizzle, with highs of around 30C.

Looking ahead to the weekend, a BBC Weather team forecast for next week hints at rising temperatures, saying: “The best weather looks like being reserved for the weekend. South-westerly winds will become lighter and with more sunshine it will be warmer.

“Temperatures could be a very pleasant 25C.” It says: “Only minor changes are expected until mid-July and possibly beyond, meaning that above average temperatures with persistently drier and calmer conditions could continue.

“However, a slight cool off remains possible during this period, which could be more pronounced in Scotland and Northern Ireland. At this stage there is only a low risk of a noticeably cooler trend, but short-term fluctuations are always possible.”

In the coming days, the Met Office forecasts warm and humid conditions, with outbreaks of rain. A forecast for Monday, June 23, says: “Largely dry for many. Plenty of sunny spells across the south, variable amounts of cloud in the north with a few showers. Windy across the country, particularly in the north.

“Feeling fresher than of late but warm in the sunshine.” Looking at tonight, it adds: “Cloud will thicken from the west tonight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Staying dry in the east with clear spells. Remaining breezy and warm overnight.”

Its Tuesday, June 24, the Met Office’s outlook adds: “Cloud and rain will continue to spread east, although some eastern areas will stay dry with bright spells. Feeling warm and humid in the southeast but a little fresher elsewhere.”

According to the BBC, conditions will be cooler than of late, with sunny but also breezy spells and variable cloud. There may be a few showers lingering across the north, but it will be largely dry elsewhere, and sunny in the south-east.

Tonight, much of the UK is expected to become cloudy, with outbreaks of rain moving into western and northern areas, but lengthy clear spells in the south-east.
