Chelsea’s biggest test of the Club World Cup so far takes them to Charlotte where they will face Benfica. Enzo Maresca’s side have enjoyed a less than perfect start to the lucrative competition in the USA.
They rode their luck in their first match against LAFC, beating them 2-0 despite the MLS side missing a large number of chances. The Blues then imploded and lost 3-1 to Flamengo, after Nicolas Jackson’s reckless lunge saw them go down to ten men.
The West Londoners re-discovered their composure against Esperance, with summer signing Liam Delap scoring his first goal as the Blues overcame the Tunisian side 3-0. Despite finishing second in their group, Chelsea luckily avoided a clash against Bayern Munich.
However, they face a dangerous Benfica side who pipped Vincent Kompany’s Bundesliga winners to top spot in Group C. Mirror Football takes you through everything you need to know to tune into the clash.
What time does Chelsea vs Benfica kick off?
Chelsea vs Benfica will be kicking off at 9pm for those in the UK (4pm locally) in Charlotte, North Carolina. They will be playing at the Bank of America Stadium, which holds 74,867 people and is home to NFL giants the Carolina Panthers.

Where can you watch Chelsea vs Benfica?
Many football fans in the UK have been tuning into live coverage on Channel 5, but Chelsea vs Benfica will not be shown on the channel. While they did win some of the broadcasting rights for matches, streaming platform DAZN are the main rights holders.
The platform is, however, broadcasting matches for free. In order to take advantage of this initiative, viewers must sign up to DAZN’s ‘Freemium’ service.
This can be accessed through the DAZN app via smart TV, mobile phones, tablets and laptops. Customers will not be liable for any hidden costs if they watch through the Freemium service.

What’s the Chelsea vs Benfica team news?
With Jackson being given a two-game suspension for his red card against Flamengo, Delap will be expected to lead the Chelsea frontline. Against Esperance, Maresca made nine changes to the team that lost to Flamengo.
He rested big-hitters such as Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, captain Reece James, central defender Levi Colwill, Marc Cucurella and many more. Expect those players to be inserted back into the team as well as Pedro Neto, who has scored two goals in two games at the Club World Cup.
Meanwhile, Benfica are expected to have a full squad available for the quarter-final. Left-back Alvaro Carreras was suspended for their recent 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich, which saw them overtake the German side as group leaders.
