Arsenal transfer news: Gunners make improved bid amid Nico Williams boost

By staff1 July 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Arsenal will hope to get some business over the line in July as the transfer window enters its penultimate month with Martin Zubimendia and Christian Norgaard deals still to be confirmed

This business end of the transfer window gets underway now July is here. Pre-season awaits to help new signings to acclimatise with the new Premier League season barely six weeks away.

Mikel Arteta will hope Arsenal can kick into action with the expectation of Martin Zubimendi arriving at the Emirates alongside Brentford’s Christian Norgaard. The pair will attempt to strengthen the Gunners’ midfield after the exits of Jorginho and Thomas Partey.

The north London side will crucially hope to sign a new striker in a bid to rid themselves of the title of perennial runners-up. Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokores have long been linked with a move to Arsenal but have yet to see progress enough to sign on the dotted line.

With a move into another season and financial year, perhaps now is when business will be done. Arteta will certainly hope so.

Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours around the Emirates Stadium.

Williams boost

Arsenal have seen a faint boost to their hopes of signing Nico Williams after the winger’s move to Barcelona stalled. After the Spain international appeared to have a agreed terms with the Catalan club, upon contracts being drawn up a stalemate emerged.

Williams is said to want a guarantee over his registration after last year, Barca were unable to register new signing Dani Olmo in their squad due to La Liga’s financial rules. Barcelona are claimed to find the request unreasonable after the condition was not part of the original talks and having offered their own assurances.

Williams does not want to suffer the same fate as Olmo however and has not been persauded to forgo a guarantee. Bayern Munich will be waiting to pounce in addition to Arsenal with Williams previously suggesting he was open to such a move.

Arsenal improve offer

Arsenal have made an improved offer for Cristhian Mosquera, per reports. The Gunners are said to have offered new terms to Valencia after previously seeing a bid worth £10m rejected.

The north London side’s new bid is said to be in the region of €21m-€22m (around £18m), almost doubling their previous offer. Mosquera has already reached an agreement in principle with Arsenal for a five-year contract.

Gunners exits

A total of 17 players said their goodbyes to the Emirates Stadium due to their contracts expiring on June 30. Among those departing was Thomas Partey, who Mikel Arteta had expressed his desire for to stay.

The 17 players who left the Gunners are: Kieran Tierney, Thomas Partey, Raheem Sterling, Neto, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Khayon Edwards, Jimi Gower, Jack Henry-Francis, Brian Okonkwo, Ismail Oulad M’Hand, Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand, Elian Quesada-Thorn, Jakai Fisher, Reece Clairmont, Romari Forde, Max Kuczynski, and Zacariah Shuaib.
