Rate Labour’s first year in government – take our survey and have your say

By staff4 July 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

After 14 years of Tory rule, many voters were joyous last year when Labour came into government for the first time since they lost the 2010 election. We want to know how you think ABOUT Labour’s first year back in charge.

Keir Starmer
Tell us what you think of Keir Starmer’s first year in power

This week officially marks the current Labour government’s first year in office and a lot has changed in the last 12 months.

With the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, Israel’s conflicts with its neighbours and US President Trump’s ever-changing thoughts about tariffs, there’s been plenty for Keir Starmer and his ministers to stay across. Not to mention all the domestic challenges to contend with, including local elections and Starmer’s winter fuel payment U-turn.

Labour’s first year in government was never going to be an easy one and Starmer has frequently cited the situation he “inherited from the previous government’ as being the reason for many of his tough decisions. But the last year has also seen Starmer welcome praise for how he handled crunch talks with Trump at the White House, his decision to roll out free breakfast clubs in schools and for abolishing NHS England in order to cut bureaucracy and put money back on the “frontline”.

One year on from the party gaining power, we want to know what you think of Labour’s first year back in charge. Do you think Starmer has made a good leader so far and who would be his natural successor? Do you personally feel better off financially since Labour took charge and has the party delivered on its promises so far?

Let us know how you feel about all these issues and more, by taking the survey below and you can expand on your thoughts in the comments section.
