Sky is dishing out free TV channel upgrades, and here’s how to watch it

Sky has just launched six new channels and all can be viewed for free.

Tired of the same old content on your TV? There’s some good news if you have Sky beamed into your living room, with the telly firm announcing that it has launched some brand new channels. The best part is, they won’t cost a penny extra to watch. These so-called FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming Television) channels include sports, documentaries and art, with a total of six new services now available to tune into.

The boost has launched on devices including Sky Glass Gen 2, Sky Glass Air and Sky Stream boxes. Those with older Sky Q gadgets can also view the channels via Xumo Play app.

Sky says that users should not need to update or retune their devices, with the update arriving automatically.

If you have Sky installed and the boost sounds enticing, you’ll find full details about what’s available and where to find the channels below.

Sky Sports Classics: This channel lets you delve into the Sky Sports Premier League archives with the likes of Premier League Icons and Premier League Legends.

You’ll find Sports Classics on channel 1001.

Sky Sports Vault: This 2nd new sporting service offers a whole host of archive darts, EFL and boxing content including 30 Years of The PDC World Darts Championship and Fight Night.

You’ll find it Sports Vault on channel 1002.

Sky Sports Stories: There’s also a 3rd new channel dedicated to sports. Sky Sports Stories has a documentary for every fan – from EFL Rivalries to Her Huddle.

You’ll find Sports Stories on channel 1003.

Pick Monkey Rescue: This one is for animal lovers. Pick Monkey Rescue features episodes of the Monkey Life series.

You’ll find Monkey Rescue on channel 1004.

Emergency 24/7: As it says on the tin this channel is dedicated to emergencies with Highway Cops, Air Ambulance ER and Stop Search Seize, plus many more shows, Emergency 24/7 is packed full of drama.

You’ll find Emergency 24/7 on channel 1005.

Sky Artist of The Year (channel 1006): Finally there’s a channel for art aficionados, viewers can catch up on Sky’s Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year.

You’ll find Artist of the Year on channel 1006.

If you don’t want to start pumping those numbers into your remote, don’t forget that they can also be found via voice search on your remote. Just speak the channel name and number and you’ll get instant access.

It’s not just Sky dishing out content for free.

Virgin Media also recently confirmed the launch of two new free channels, which come packed with movies.

If you have a Virgin TV 360, Stream or V6 box, you should have the new Virgin Media channels right now. They are British Screen Classics and wedotv movies, which can be found on channel 450 and 451 respectively.

British Screen Classics shows films and TV shows from the libraries of ITV Studios and Studio Canal.

wedotv movies is described as a “contemporary film channel with a catalogue of over 500 movies across all genres.
