Sky’s biggest-ever saving on Gigafast broadband cuts £96 off the ultimate upgrade

Sky has quietly slashed its 900Mbps fibre broadband to its ‘lowest ever price’ for a limited time, rivalling the likes of Virgin Media and BT

Sky has just slashed the price of its fastest full fibre broadband plan to its ‘lowest ever’ in a flash summer sale. Sky’s Full Fibre Gigasfast broadband has dropped from £42 to £38 per month – a £96 saving.

This ultra-fast package delivers download speeds of up to 900Mbps, ideal for the busiest households with high internet usage. It means those running several devices at once for online gaming, 4K streaming and more, can enjoy a smooth, lag-free internet connection.

However, the deal isn’t around for long, with Sky confirming it will expire on July 23. Sky’s Full Fibre plans – also known as Fibre to the Premises – runs through a fibre cable direct to the home, which delivers a faster and more reliable connection compared to standard fibre.

The Gigafast package also includes Sky’s latest Max Hub with WiFi 6 technology, which is capable of providing higher speeds than Sky’s older routers through intelligent cloud optimisation to give users the best and smoothest connection. What’s more, Sky is now among the providers to introduce the One Touch Switch scheme, which means customers don’t have to contact their old provider when they switch.

Instead, Sky will do the leg work on their behalf. Shoppers looking to keep costs down can consider slower broadband speeds if they don’t need the fastest connection. Other options include Full Fibre 300 (£28) and Full Fibre 500 (£31).

It’s worth noting that Sky’s broadband contracts run for 24-months, with price on the Gigafast plan reverting to the then-standard price – currently £49 – after this period. However, at this point members are free to shop around and cancel their plan.

Like most providers, Sky states that its prices ‘may change’ during the plans’ minimum term. In April, Sky implemented a 6.2% increase on its broadband and TV contracts, suggesting we may see a similar change come April 2026.

Sky’s latest sale puts it head-to-head with Virgin Media, which offers a rival broadband plan offering speeds up to 1,130Mbps. For £29.99, Virgin’s Gig1 Fibre Broadband delivers the provider’s fastest broadband speed, but shoppers must enter their postcode into the website to check the speeds available in their area.

Both Sky and Virgin BT’s comparable broadband offering, the £40.99 900Mbps plan, but to sweeten the deal, customers signing up for this plan will also receive a £50 BT reward card. Many Sky customers have shared their positive experience with the brand on Trustpilot, where one five-star review says: “I have been with Sky over 11 years. I have never had any problems with the broadband, amazing speed they always give me amazing deals never gone down and never had to have an engineer come out. Would highly recommend.”

Another says: “Can only give Sky five stars, their customer service is second to none. We have had to call them out twice due to broadband issues and they have been prompt on both occasions and sorted the issues straight away.”

Not everyone has had a smooth experience, as this three-star review says: “Great speed when it actually works. I’ve never had broadband as unreliable as this.”

But another glowing review says: “I have just had Sky broadband updated from wire to FTTP. It was straightforward to order. I was kept fully informed. The engineers arrived when they said they would and were very obliging in putting the new cable exactly where I wanted it. The result is a much faster and more reliable internet connection.”
