Olivia Attwood’s £46 boucle mini dress gets mistaken for Chanel by fans

By staff12 July 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Olivia Attwood is known for her amazing designer wardrobe, so it was no surprise when fans mistook her £46 blue boucle mini dress for a £3k designer Chanel one

When it comes to designer outfits, Olivia Attwood is known for having a wardrobe full of showstopping luxury pieces. It’s not unusual to see her wearing brands like Hermes, Chanel and Miu Miu on rotation, so it was no surprise that when she showed off her latest look, fans immediately assumed it was another designer look.

Sharing photos from a recent Bvlgari event in a blue boucle mini dress, Olivia shared a message she’d received from a fan saying “This dress… please don’t say it’s Chanel”. However her followers were in for a treat, as it turned out the dress not only wasn’t designer, but it was super affordably priced at £46.

She was in fact wearing the Blue Halter Neck Boucle Belted Mini Dress from high street favourite River Island, and although it was low in stock when she first posted the dress, it’s now back in stock in all sizes from an XS to an XL. The dress does bear a striking resemblance to a similar Chanel boucle mini dress which is notoriously hard to get your hands on – although there is one available for £3206 on designer resale site Vestiaire Collective.

However Olivia’s dress is the ideal way to get the designer look on a budget, not to mention it’s the perfect choice for a chic and sophisticated summer dress. The pale blue colour is flattering on all skin tones, and it has an adjustable halterneck with an open back, keeping you comfortable and breezy.

It also features a detachable white belt around the waist – a nod to the Chanel version – which accentuates your figure. The A-line shape of the skirt is also great for skimming over your hips and creating an hourglass silhouette.

Another alternative which pays homage to the iconic Chanel dress is this Sleeveless Tweed Cotton-Blend Mini Dress from Maje. It has a higher price point at £299, but it features some signature Chanel-esque details like tab pockets and button fastenings on the straps.

To bring a little extra sparkle to the look, Freemans’ Adrianna Papell Embellished Boucle Shift Dress is another great option at £84.50, with embellished gem details around the neckline. If blue isn’t your colour, we also love this pale pink Miss Selfridge tailored mini dress, which features a statement satin bow at the back and is on sale down from £45.99 to £27.99 at ASOS.

However, considering Olivia’s River Island dress was so easily mistaken for something as luxurious as Chanel, it’s safe to say it’s a great pick for anyone looking to get the designer look without breaking the bank. You can shop her Blue Halter Neck Boucle Belted Mini Dress for £46 now.
