The worker revealed she was mortified after the words ‘I love you’ accidentally slipped from her mouth during an important client call. But the person’s response truly surprised her…
We’ve all been there before… Calling our colleague another name by mistake, or even worse, dropping the L-bomb on them accidentally. Now one worker revealed her horror after slipping the words ‘love you’ at the end of a client call. It can happen a lot, but sometimes what can really leave you surprised is how the other person reacts to the situation, which happened in this viral post.
On Instagram, account @globalpositivenews, shared the awkward interaction between colleagues. The page, which boasts 1million followers, captioned the post: “I do work from home, and the last person I talked to right before him was my husband lol. It had also been a long day.”
She told social media users: “Accidentally said ‘love you’ at the end of a call with an important client yesterday. I heard him giggle as I hung up, and I was mortified. Today, I saw he emailed me this…”
The woman then shared the client’s email which left her shocked as it read: “Hey [name].
“Just wanted to say that I didn’t mean to laugh at you when accidentally signed off on our call with a ‘love you’.
“I just found it funny because I’ve definitely done that before, and I know it happens. I’m glad you have enough love in your life that that response comes naturally.
“If anything, you should be proud of that :). Have a great weekend! We’ll follow up about my call with Chris on Wednesday, as discussed.”
The post was originally shared by the woman on Reddit which garnered 252,000 upvotes and over 2,700 comments. One sympathised: “Happens more if you are working from home, and your wife/partner and kids are floating about.
“99% of people think it’s funny/endearing or say they’ve done it too. Work in IT contracts/supplier management.”
Another added: “That was incredibly kind to break the ice and give such encouraging words. That person is obviously very emotionally intelligent.”
A third commented: “The subject line would have made my heart stop.”
In other Reddit stories, a surprise family trip turned into a holiday from hell after one lie was exposed. With the summer holiday season in full swing, one traveller opened up about a family trip to Butlins when they were 14, which has clearly had a lasting impact.
In a Reddit post, they shared the “one small detail” their parents failed to mention for the surprise getaway, leaving it far from what they expected.
The holidaymaker said: “One small detail they also forgot to mention was that they also didn’t pay for me to actually go into the resort, so I had to get into the boot of our car at the closest petrol station, sleep on the floor of the chalet, and couldn’t use any of the facilities.”
