‘My sister named her baby after a car dealership because she thinks it’s cute’

A man has shared his disappointment after hearing what his sister wants to name her second born child – as he fears it’ll negatively impact the child throughout their life

A man has slammed his sister for naming her son after a car dealership – because she believes it to be a ‘cute’ moniker. He explained how his 35-year-old sibling is due to give birth to her second child next month – and has already announced her second born’s name to close friends and family.

However, not everyone is convinced the moniker is a ‘good idea’. Some fear the boy will face judgement and ridicule later in life because of it. Taking to Reddit, he said: “My sister and her husband, 40, are having a baby in August and they just told me his name is going to be Napleton Hyundai, after the car dealership where they met. Is this crazy?

“I think it’s insane that they want to name their baby after a car brand, but they promise it’s just the middle name and no one will use it.”

He went onto explain how his sister already have a three-year-old daughter called Shaniqua Peaches – but after she was born, she asked their family to simply call her Shaniqua instead.

The Redditor added: “I love my sister, but this name is not normal and no child should be named after a business. What can I say to make her change it? Our family isn’t even Korean which is where the word Hyundai comes from.”

Wanting to speak up before it was too late, he decided to tell his sister his true thoughts but this only sparked a heated argument between them.

He said: “I went over to my sister’s house and told her a lot of things, mainly that the baby’s name should not be about their relationship because um it’s a baby, and that if they ever broke up the name’s meaning would be even more hurtful to both of them.

“Well, she started screaming at me and calling me a terrible brother for wishing her and her husband would break up, and now my parents are asking why I made things worse for the rest of the family.

“I left like 15 minutes ago and just got this text – ”How dare you tell me to change my baby’s name I was really happy to share this with you and this is how you react.

“‘If you don’t get onboard with this name I won’t allow you to come see baby Naple. He is the physical product of ***** and I’s relationship and the dealership was the physical beginning of the same relationship it makes a lot of f***ing sense’.”

Commenting on his post, one user said: “Having Hyundai as the middle name is crazy. Having Napleton as the first name is even worse.”

Another user added: “OK, this has got to be the very worst. And I really mean this. The worst name ever.” A third user said: “Please tell me this is a joke. I’m laughing so hard.”
