Daniel Dubois sent brutal message by Carl Froch ahead of Oleksandr Usyk rematch

Dubois and Usyk will renew their rivalry on Saturday night at Wembley Stadium, but the British heavyweight has been written off by boxing legend Carl Froch

Carl Froch believes Daniel Dubois simply has not got what it takes to topple Oleksandr Usyk when the duo square off for a second time.

The heavyweight stars are set to clash once again on Saturday night at Wembley Stadium – two years since their initial bout. During their first encounter, the Ukrainian ultimately emerged victorious with a ninth-round stoppage victory. However, their dust-up was not short of controversy.

Boxing fans were left stunned in the fifth round when Dubois floored the Ukrainian with a shot many believed at the time was to the body. To the Brit’s dismay, the referee eventually ruled it a low blow, granting Usyk several minutes to recover.

Following that setback, ‘Triple D’ has transformed dramatically and enhanced his skills enormously. The 27-year-old has been on a rampage recently and enters Saturday evening’s clash fresh from demolishing Anthony Joshua with a vicious fifth round knockout. Yet despite Dubois brimming with confidence, Froch remains convinced the British powerhouse lacks the quality to inflict Usyk’s first professional defeat.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the ‘Cobra’ declared: “I do not think Daniel Dubois will catch Oleksandr Usyk with a big heavy knockout blow.

“This will be the difference… because he is not going to get caught with something big and heavy that is going to render him unconscious, I just think it is going to go the distance or maybe be a late stoppage for Usyk.”

“I can see Dubois trying, maybe taking this advice, maybe going in there with a gameplan to make it hard for Usyk, but I do not think he is going to be good enough. I just do not think he has got the pedigree, I do not think he has got the skills, I do not think he is going to land a shot that Usyk is not going to see coming.”

Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois will fight to become the undisputed heavyweight champion on Saturday, July 19.

Fans can order the fight on DAZN PPV for £24.99 or get it free with a DAZN Annual plan.

While Froch is firm on his prediction, the British boxing legend can see the showdown living up to the hype and being entertaining for the first six rounds before tipping Usyk to take over and control the undisputed heavyweight title fight. “I can see it be a close, entertaining, fight for the first five, six, seven rounds.

“As soon as we get into round seven or eight, you will see Usyk start to take over, start to flick that switch, put the pressure on, put combinations together and I do not think Daniel Dubois is going to stay with him. If he does stay with him and survives the 12 rounds, Dubois will lose on points. Otherwise, I think Dubois will get stopped by the fantastic Oleksandr Usyk.”

When is Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois?
