Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has revealed she’s finding motherhood hard as she shared how different her bond is with each of her three kids
Helen Flanagan has candidly reflected on the different bonds with her three children as she confesses to finding motherhood hard. The former Coronation Street actress, 34, shares her three children Matilda, nine, Delilah, six, and Charlie, four, with her ex Scott Sinclair.
She has been open on how she is navigating being a single mum and the challenges that come with raising children solo. Helen decided to look back on the year so far as she shared her favourite memories with her children.
In her candid update, Helen wrote: “Looked back at some of my favourite times with the kids this year x Found motherhood hard recently, I’ve felt overwhelmed and stressed the majority of the time and I want to get back to when im present and I’m really in it and I’m really enjoying it x I always wanted to be a mum x.”
She then opened up on how she mothers each of her kids and added: “I get mum guilt with Matilda as I feel like I’m always pre occupied with her brother, I can’t give her the energy that I want to give her and I feel like she always sees me at my worst.
“I also feel like she needs calm which I can never be. Delilah, I feel like I’m getting it right with her and I feel like our bond is tight, so that’s something not to beat myself up about.
“Charlie I could pull my hair out sometimes, I feel like I’ve got the male version of me x.” Helen then opened up on her strained relationship with ex Scott.
She went on: “Co parenting is hard and not being a team together and not being able to talk about your anxieties and worries for the kids. I suppose you can only do your best and be kind to yourself but I wanted these on my grid for me as they make my soul happy.”
Helen was flooded with support from her followers as one said: “You’re human and doing your best and you’re an amazing mama! this is your first time living too, give yourself grace.” Another added: “You are a great mummy,” and someone else commented: “You’re doing an amazing job.”
Following her split from Scott after 13 years together, Helen spiraled into a “very scary” psychotic episode while on her dream New Year’s break in Bali with their children.
Reflecting on that time in her life earlier this year, Helen devastatingly shared how she thought her kids would have been better off without her. She bravely posted: “My love life was a s**t show that year…. I didn’t look after my my mental health or think.
“I felt so s**t and sad. I felt like my whole life was f***ed up now and I had the perfect family. 13 years is a long time to be with someone. My whole 20s. I had a lot of family fall outs too and I also lost basically all my money. Me and Scott weren’t married we were engaged.
“My mental health was so bad I thought maybe my kids would be better off without me and maybe they would be better off with their dad as he’s more level headed than me. I love my kids more than words can say but when you are not well you’re not well.”
