The video for Katy Perry’s song LIFETIMES was filmed across the islands of Ibiza and Formentera – but it shouldn’t have been, and the authorities have taken action
A big fine has been handed out after Katy Perry filmed a music video in protected area without the required permission.
The songstress, who recently split with fiancé Orlando Bloom, shot the footage for her tune LIFETIMES last summer in the Ses Salines Natural Park on Spain’s Balearic Islands. But outrage soon followed after environmental campaigners quickly pointed out to authorities that they were filming in a strictly off-limits zone.
The area – which covers 40,000 acres of both land and ocean across the islands of Ibiza and Formentera – requires a permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment to even enter. Because they didn’t, and a fine was handed out to her production company.

The Balearic government has told the firm they must pay €6,001 (£5,197) the Majorca Daily Bulletin reports. The publication say the fine has already been settled after the pop star recorded the footage to her single, which was released on August 8 last year.
The protected area is nesting spot for migrating birds, which is supported by UNESCO World Heritage. Katy was seen in the video dancing on the beaches in an ‘area of special scenic and rural interest’. Officials said while the offence was ‘serious’, there was no evidence of lasting damage.
Katy is said to be feeling “let down and humiliated” after her ex Orlando Bloom mocked her rumoured new romance with former Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. The singer, 40, was first linked to the politician after they were spotted having dinner together in late July at Le Violon restaurant in Montreal, where they reportedly tucked into lobster and drank cocktails.
Just two days later, Justin, 53, was snapped at Katy’s concert in the city, where he was seen dancing and singing along to her hit Firework. But, according to OK! her former fiancé Orlando, 48, appeared to take a swipe at the surprising new romance while commenting on a social media post.
The post on satirical news site The Onion showed a mocked-up photo of Orlando sharing a romantic meal with retired German politician Angela Merkel. The picture showed the pair sitting at a candle-lit dinner table, with a faux caption alongside from an “insider” claiming, “Angela kept Orlando laughing all night – he couldn’t keep his eyes off her!” In response, Orlando posted a string of clapping emojis in the comments section below, which is said to have upset Katy.
A source claimed to new, “Katy feels very let down and humiliated by Orlando, but she’s also realising that he wasn’t the right person for her. He’s showing his true colours and it’s really very hurtful and spiteful to her, especially as it probably means the end of any possible friendship with him in future. They added, “She hoped they’d both be mature after the break-up so she’s feeling really disappointed.”
The pair confirmed the end of their on-off nine-year relationship in June, releasing a joint statement that insisted their priority would be co-parenting their four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.
The statement read, “Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry ’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”
It continued, “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
