Man Utd transfer news: Benjamin Sesko deal cancels protest as Antony ultimatum issued

By staff13 August 2025No Comments5 Mins Read

A Manchester United protest has been called off in light of the club landing the signing of Benjamin Sesko as Antony’s future remains front and centre with the transfer deadline closing in

Manchester United’s frontline has been transformed by an impressive summer of recruitment with three new faces setting them back more than £200million.

The capture of Benjamin Sesko, presented to Old Trafford on Saturday, means Ruben Amorim has addressed the lack of goals in his team last season. With the season fast approaching it is unlikely that any new faces will arrive before they play Arsenal on Sunday.

However Amorim has made it clear he would like a new midfielder with Brighton’s Carlos Baleba continuing to be linked with a move to Manchester. He’s excelled at the Amex but, given the fee the Seagulls would demand, there’s an acceptance that any deal could prove challenging.

PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma is another player who could be on the move with the Parisians leaving him out of their squad for this week’s European Super Cup. PSG are open to his exit with United among those keen. Here’s the latest news lines from the Red Devils.

Sesko signing cancels protest

Manchester United supporters group The 1958 has pulled the plug on a planned protest. The group had planned to march against Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ownership ahead of United’s opening Premier League game, against Arsenal. Their decision comes just days after Sesko joined the club. The striker signing in a deal worth up to £74m.

In early August, The 1958 shared plans for a protest while claiming “shiny new signings” shouldn’t distract from minority owner Ratcliffe’s involvement. However, following a mixed response to the announcement, the group then put the plans to its membership.

While the majority of those surveyed agreed Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS should be judged on what they have delivered, some 68 percent felt they deserved more time to show what they can do. In announcing the postponement of the march, The 1958 published a breakdown of the voting.

Antony ultimatum issued

The Red Devils have issued winger Antony with an ultimatum as the Brazilian attempts to secure a move to Real Betis. The club have demanded the Brazilian winger to accept a transfer offer this week or risk remaining on the sidelines at Old Trafford until January.

The La Liga side want to see the former Ajax man return to the club but want to hang on until the final moments of the transfer window to close a deal with United for a loan with option or obligation to buy.

But those on the red side of Manchester want to seal an exit, according to reports in Spain, and have already received offers that they would deem financially suitable and do not want to regard Betis as their only option.

Lewandowsi eyed Man Utd move

Robert Lewandowski has revealed that he “said yes” to the opportunity to move to Manchester to play under Sir Alex Ferguson – only for the move never to happen. The Barcelona star has been one of Europe’s outstanding No 9s for more than a decade, but a different path may have seen him play at Old Trafford under the Scot in his final year as a manager.

It was in 2012 that he gave the green light to move to Manchester from Borussia Dortmund for what would’ve been the final spell of Ferguson’s stint in Manchester. The interest came off the back of a season where Lewandowski claimed the Bundesliga title, scoring 30 times.

The Polish star told the BBC: “To Manchester United I decided and said yes. I wanted to join Manchester United, to see Alex Ferguson.”
