Seven-month-old boy ‘kidnapped’ as mum attacked outside California store

By staff16 August 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro was ‘kidnapped’ outside of a store after his mum said she was attacked – police have urged the public to help in the search for the baby

A seven-month-old baby boy was reportedly kidnapped during a horror attack on his mum outside of a store.

Emmanuel Haro was reportedly taken after his mother, Rebecca Haro, said she was knocked unconscious in a car park outside of a store in Yucaipa, California. Police have launched a hunt for the baby boy and called on the public for help tracking down the child quickly as the heartbroken mum shared a desperate plea.

His mum said the horror ordeal took place, on Thursday at around 7.40pm, when they were in the area to visit a nearby football stadium with Emmanuel and her four other children – to watch them play youth football.

Rebecca said she quickly left to visit a sporting goods store, called Big 5, to pick up a mouthguard for her stepson.

The mum told cops she realised her babies diaper needed changing, when she went back to her car at the store, so laid him down in the back seat. Rebecca said she was then attacked from the back but when she got up her son was gone.

Rebecca, according to abc7, said: “I got him out of the car seat, and I laid him down so I can get his diaper ready … all I remember, I saw white … I fell on the floor, and as soon as I got up, I couldn’t find my son.

“I checked all around my truck. And I ran into Big 5, and I asked the lady if she saw a baby or someone with a baby. She said no. He’s a happy boy.” Emmanuel’s dad, Jake Haro, said: “He was a healthy baby, he was crawling, he was kicking, he was playing with his toys. Whoever took our son, please give him back.”

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said: “K9 Units with scent tracking dogs also responded and conducted and an exhaustive search for the child and any possible suspects.”

Police said the baby was last seen wearing a black Nike onesie, weighs about 21 pounds, is approximately 24 inches tall, has brown hair, brown eyes, and is cross-eyed.

The cops also made a plea to the public and said: “This is an active investigation, and we are seeking the public’s help in locating the child.” They added: “If you have any information, please call 911 or Sheriff’s Dispatch at 909-387-8313. No additional information is available at this time.”

The heartbroken family returned to the store’s car park on Friday to hand out leaflets to the public and launch a search party for the missing baby.
