Arsenal transfer news: Gunners in talks over loan deal after Eberechi Eze deadline missed

By staff23 August 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Arsenal are close to announcing their seventh major signing of the summer transfer window ahead of their Premier League match against Leeds this weekend, with more deals to come

Arsenal host Leeds in the Premier League on Saturday evening, but still have one eye on the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have already spent over £200million to sign Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga and have now committed to increase their spending even further.

Eberechi Eze will soon be an Arsenal player after the club stumped up £60m plus £7.5m in add-ons to hijack Tottenham’s move for the Crystal Palace midfielder. Eze sat out of Palace’s Conference League play-off against Fredrikstad on Thursday night ahead of his medical with the Gunners.

His arrival has increased the importance of exits before the window closes for business on September 1. Sporting director Andrea Berta has enjoyed a successful window in terms of incoming players, but has struggled to shift unwanted players thus far. Here are the latest stories involving the Gunners and transfers.

Kiwior in exit talks

Jakub Kiwior is fed up with not playing at Arsenal and wants to join Porto, according to O Jogo.

Kiwior didn’t make the Gunners’ squad for the Manchester United game on the weekend and wants out. Porto are in ‘informal talks’ with Arsenal over a deal for the Poland defender, with a loan deal with an obligation to buy on the table.

Mosquera’s arrival from Valencia this summer has pushed Kiwior down the pecking order and Arsenal will therefore let him leave for the right price. The 25-year-old joined the club from Spezia in 2023 for around £20m in January 2023 and has made 68 appearances for Arsenal, despite never nailing down a place in Mikel Arteta’s side.

Eze deadline missed

Arsenal moved very fast to secure Eze this week after the injury to Kai Havertz. Berta and vice-chairman Tim Lewis were credited with the work to land the 27-year-old after Spurs spent weeks in talks.

Things have moved quickly this week, but not quickly enough for Eze to be involved against Leeds at 5.30pm on Saturday evening. The deal needed to be completed and ratified by the Premier League by 12pm on Friday in order for that to happen.

He could still be announced before the fixture at the Emirates, but the England international won’t make his debut this weekend. That could come instead against Liverpool next Sunday at Anfield.

Hein move close

Karl Hein is set to join Werder Bremen in the coming days. The German side are keen to sign the Arsenal fringe player as their second-choice stopper and the Gunners are happy to let him leave.

If they do have to settle for a loan then Arsenal want to include an obligation to buy. Hein is part of their efforts to offload unwanted players, which still has plenty of work to do.

Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lonkonga, Reiss Nelson and Oleksandr Zinchenko all still remain with the club as the transfer window reaches its conclusion.
