Tyler Harris dead: The Ultra Violets drummer dies weeks after festival performance

By staff27 August 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Tyler Harris of The Ultra Violets has tragically died, the band has confirmed, just weeks after they performed at the Isle of Wight Festival, as tributes poured in

A British indie rocker has tragically died. The Ultra Violets have taken to social media to share that their “heartbeat,” Tyler Harris, had died.

The band, consisting of Perran Nicholls and Marc Willoughby on vocals, bassist and Adam Knucky and Tyler, had performed at the Isle of Wight Festival just weeks ago. But now, they have said they will be taking time out of their career in order to process the heartbreaking news.

In a statement, they said: “This is something we never thought we’d have to write. But our beloved Tyler, a son, a brother, a uncle, a partner, our friend and our heartbeat has tragically passed away.

“We hope you can respect our privacy at this difficult time, we will be taking some time out to process this. Tyler we love you with all our hearts, play that kit loud up there won’t you.”

The band also shared a collection of images of Tyler, including him backstage, appearing full of joy as he smiled while looking away from the camera. A second image showed the musician in the recording studio sitting at his drums, again, flashing a huge smile.

Following the news, they had been inundated with support, with The Slates writing: “So sorry to hear this guys, our thoughts are with you all.” Bailey Tomkinson added: “Sending you lots of love guys, so sad to hear this,” alongside a heart emoji.

The Mercians said: “Sending so much love boys.” One heartbroken fan commented: “I’m so sorry for your loss guys, terrible news. Sending so much love to you all.” While another penned: “Oh my God I am so so devastated to read this how shocking. Sending you all so much love.”

The band later went on to thank fans and fellow musicians for their support during the heartbreaking time. In a follow-up statement, they said: “Thank you all for the love and support, it’s been the hardest few days ever! Tyler wouldn’t believe how much love he’s got right now a love I wish he was here to see, he really was the kindest and funniest soul around. Thanks you again everyone keep sharing his memory.”

The Ultra Violets have become a staple in the indie scene, with their lyrics instantly becoming a firm favourite with fans. Hailing from Cornwall, their debut release, Romance, was mixed by Dave Sanderson, who has previously worked with Reverend & The Makers and was released in April 2021.

Romance, focusing on the love of two people, instantly became a hit and was picked up by Amazing Radio and Radio X, and played to millions of people across the country.

Just months later, they released Watergate Bay and have since released Sex, (She Don’t Smell Like) Roses, and their most recent single, Honeypie, which was released in June this year.

Since finding fame, the band have toured with The Pigeon Detectives and Space and their own headline shows. Elsewhere, they have performed at the likes of Isle of Wight, Leopallooza in North Cornwall and Boardmasters. Last month, they performed a secret performance at the same festival which went down a treat with their devoted fans.
