A British tourist has died after he fell from a third floor window at a resort in South Africa.
The unidentified 68-year-old man had been holidaying in Ramsgate, a village on KwaZulu-Natal’s South Coast when he plummeted from the window just after 12am on Saturday morning. It’s understood that he was drinking in the hours before the fall.
Spokesperson for the KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service, Craig Botha, said paramedics raced to the scene and found the man in a critical state before applying Advanced Life Support Interventions.

On the trip to the hospital, his condition deteriorated rapidly and despite the best efforts of the paramedics and then hospital staff, he couldn’t be saved.
An investigation has been launched to identify the circumstances leading to his fatal fall. The ambulance service shared its condolences to the individual’s loved ones. The beach town of Ramsgate is popular among South Africans and international tourists.

It comes days after a 26-year-old British man died in Rhodes, with his body pulled from the sea.
The man was pulled from the sea unconscious after swimming off Lindos, Rhode’s historic tourist capital on August 16. The island’s port authority said it was aware of an incident involving a young foreigner being pulled from the sea.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene but he couldn’t be saved and was pronounced dead. His passing was later confirmed by medics at the nearby Archangelos Health Centre. Local police are investigating the circumstances around the incident, with an autopsy ordered by the Forensic Medical Service.
Weeks earlier, a 78-year-old British woman was found dead in a hotel pool in Crete. Three people were arrested on suspicion of negligent manslaughter, including a 21-year-old lifeguard.
The elderly woman was cooling off in the pool of her hotel in Hersonissos when she fell ill. She was pulled from the water and given first aid, but emergency responders were unable to save her. She was pronounced dead at hospital.
As well as the young lifeguard, two hotel bosses – aged 51 and 41 – were also taken into custody. According to local media, all three of the suspects have been released on bail.
In another case, again in Greece, a “beloved” British grandad tragically died on holiday following a freak accident.
Craig Bloomer, 54, had travelled to the idyllic island of Corfu, for a family holiday with his two daughters, their partners and kids, but sadly died after a moped incident on July 26. The “much-loved” grandad, from Wolverhampton, on this holiday was the “happiest” he had been since his wife Jane, 53, died two years ago from cancer, according to Craig’s daughter.
