1000-lb Sisters star Katie Slaton, who is the cousin of Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton, has died, aged 37, following a cancer diagnosis, it’s been announced by a relative this week
1000-lb Sisters star Katie Slaton has reportedly died, aged 37. It comes following the news that she had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.
Katie was introduced to viewers as the cousin of Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton, whose weight loss journeys are the focus of the show. Their sister, Amanda Halterman, has now announced that their cousin Katie died earlier this week.
Amanda wrote on Instagram yesterday: “It [is] with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this. My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely. She was the life of the [party] and my best friend.
“I know both our grandparents and friends was there to welcome you home. Please pray for my aunt uncle and cousins but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong. Please pray for everyone whom loves her. Thank you all who has come out and supported her. #cancerscks.”
The news came just a day after Amanda had asked fans to pray for the family. Alongside a photo of Katie, she wrote in a post on Monday: “Please whisper a prayer for our family as we continue to support [Katie]. I am so thankful to be allowed to stand by your side.”
It was announced earlier this year that Katie, who appeared on several episodes of the show, had been diagnosed with cancer.
