Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole has shared a cryptic post on social media just two days after the American football player announced his engagement to singing sensation Taylor Swift.
The Kansas City Chiefs star, 35, got down on one knee and popped the all-important question to the Shake It Off hitmaker, also 35, earlier this month after two years of romance. The loved-up couple shared their happy news in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday and subsequently ‘broke the internet’ with their milestone moment.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they said in the joyous statement. In one engagement snap, Taylor was seen crying as she hugged her now fiancée. Travis got down on one knee, surrounded by stunning flowers in a sprawling garden.

Looking emotional, another snap saw the couple posing for the camera, with Travis resting his arms around Taylor’s waist while she cradled his face as they gazed lovingly at one another. Her engagement ring featured one large diamond, with the gold band resting on her finger as it glistened under the sun.
Following their milestone announcement, Travis and Taylor have been inundated with congratulatory messages from their famous friends including Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, and more. However, Travis’ ex-girlfriend Kayla, 33, had remained silent before sharing a very cryptic post on her Instagram account.
Sports broadcaster Kayla dated Travis for five years before their breakup in 2022 – just a couple of months before the sports star started his love story with Taylor.
Just hours after Travis announced his engagement, Kayla shared a striking Instagram story that appeared to reflect on her own personal growth.
The presenter reposted a clip of Tracee Ellis Ross discussing the depth of joy, a message Kayla clearly resonated with. “Read about this very concept years ago in a book called Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn’t Enough,” she wrote over the video: “I aspire! So so good.”
In the video, Ross explains the distinction between joy and happiness: “I work at it,” she begins. “I think joy is different from happiness. I feel like happiness is something you can get at 7/11, and joy is something you earn and work for and takes practice.”
She went on: “I feel like joy has legs… joy has feet, I feel like joy has roots… joy creates space and allows for room for more than just a good day. I think joy is an attitude… a perspective… a lens through which I live and look at my life.”
In the past, Kayla has been candid about the emotional toll of her breakup with Travis, particularly because of the fact that his new relationship with Taylor has played out in the forefront of the public eye.
“Going through a public breakup, just to be frank, it’s been overwhelming,” she admitted on Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test back in January.
Addressing the relentless online attention she faces, Kayla added: “It’s pretty constant and exhausting. It doesn’t matter, I could post about the sky being blue and people will have a response about an ex and their new situation.”
The scrutiny has taken a deeper toll than many might realise as Travis ex previously admitted: “It’s inadvertently affected me to the point where it makes me question my overall value as a person.”
When it comes to being compared to Taylor in every aspect of her life by the pop star’s die-hard fans, Kayla admitted that it has only amplified the pressure.
“I think there’s just the comparison and it’s just like on loop,” Kayla explained through tears. “I think I’m still trying to figure out how to deal with it.”
Still, she made it clear there’s no animosity. “I really like, like, her,” Kayla said of Swift. “I think she’s very talented.”
