Inside Primark’s first giant homeware store with designer dupes and £3.50 kitchenware

Everything you can expect from the huge new Primark store rivalling Ikea, Dunelm and Homesense dedicated to homeware, furniture and designer dupes for a fraction of the cost

Primark is loved by many for its affordable fashion, but now it’s branching out after announcing its first ever 11,900sq ft store dedicated to homeware.

The new store in Manchester features an array of homeware from the budget retailer, with £3.50 kitchenware and designer dupes. Sun reporter Blathnaid Corless said stepping inside the new Primark store in the famous Trafford Palazzo felt like she had just walked into a Dunelm or a Homesense.

“The huge 11,900 sq ft store is set over two floors. Downstairs is a wonderland of kitchenware, bedding, bathroom accessories and soft toys, while the upper mezzanine is a dedicated year-round travel shop. Towards the front of the store, there’s a huge array of kitchen accessories, from goblet drink glasses for £5, patterned mugs from £3.50, as well as dozens of different patterns of ceramic plates, bowls and jugs starting from £3.50.”

“A cute pumpkin butter dish – part of the new autumnal range – immediately caught my eye. It could definitely pass as a Le Creuset dupe – but for £6.”

The consumer journalist said she also spotted a dupe of viral Owala water bottles that are popular on TikTok right now and sell for as much as £40. At £6, I imagine these will be a hit with Primark’s younger shoppers.

She also said the retailer could soon be rivalling Ikea with its flat-pack furniture including a stylish leather-look brown PU Living Chair for £90, a shelving unit for £60 and a cream boucle dining chair for £45.

And there’s also a dedicated “Back to Uni” section perfect for students looking to decorate their room on a budget.

Upstairs, an entire floor is dedicated to travel with suitcase ranging from £12 to £55, a travel speaker for £8, luggage scales for £5, and even a bracelet that can charge your phone for £3.50.

Primark is expecting its autumnal harvest collection, which includes lots of pumpkins and orange and brown tones, to be very popular over the next two months .Its pumpkin-shaped cushions come in a range of sizes and autumnal hues and are priced from £5 to £10.

“Soft neutral tones are also expected to be a big trend for the colder months – there’s a lot of green, grey and beige crockery and cushions around the store,” Blathnaid adds.

And she said that while Primark has always been known for its bargain prices, the retailer has recently started branching out into more expensive, luxury items.

“Its new luxury homeware collection – the Primark Home Edit – immediately reminds me of The White Company, but for a fraction of the cost of the premium brand with prices from just £5.”

Meanwhile, if you can’t get to Manchester to visit the new store, you can shop the range online using Primark’s click and collect service, which was rolled out to all its 187 stores in Britain earlier this year.

The service works similarly to online shopping, but instead of getting the items dropped off at your home, you pick them up at your local store.
