Bryan Mbeumo shares true feelings on Ruben Amorim after dramatic Man Utd win

Manchester United squeezed past Burnley in dramatic circumstances thanks to a late penalty and after netting his first Premier League goal for the side, Bryan Mbeumo spoke out

Bryan Mbeumo claimed that Manchester United’ s dramatic win vs Burnley was not just for under-fire Ruben Amorim – but for the whole club. The Red Devils boss had found himself under pressure following a dire start to the campaign.

United failed to win each of their opening two Premier League games and saw their Carabao Cup journey ended at the first stage with a humiliating defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town.

But they managed to secure their first victory of the campaign on Saturday as they squeezed past Burnley 3-2 – Bruno Fernandes firing home a dramatic late penalty. Mbeumo also got on the scoresheet with his first Premier League goal for United.

It was his second goal in as many games following his strike at Grimsby. Asked if the win was to ease the pressure on Amorim, he claimed that wasn’t the case.

He said: “We are all a team, it is not only one person. We all worked very hard for the win today.”

Mbeumo added: “Every game is hard and important. We had the game with us in the first half, but we had to fight every minute. I’m very happy, and we win as well – as a striker, it is important to be confident with goals.”

And while Mbeumo was left delighted with United’s win, he pointed to the importance of getting back on track following their humiliation at Grimsby. He said: “It’s a big club, the expectations are high and we need to deal with it. But a great feeling to win here.

“With what happened in the week, we had to react with a win. That’s what we’ve done.”

Elsewhere, Amorim claimed that United were full value for their win despite the fortuitous circumstances in which the win arrived. He said: “It ended well, think we deserved to win the game. I think we created a lot of chances. We should go to the half-time with a bigger advantage.

“And then…every possession near our box, they can score, we are in that moment, so we start always chasing a lot of things. But we deserved and we tried until the last minute to score goals, we had our chances and in the end we deserved to win.”

United’s dramatic win against Burnley leaves them ninth in the Premier League on four points, with their beaten opponents two places behind. The Red Devils now have two weeks out of action due to the first international break of the season, while they have a clash with Manchester City to look forward to.
